My dude, I am experiencing this exact issue, I Ran into not being able to remove it to replace it. I knew in my gut I would have to remove cv axle and u assured it. Thanks a million.

Remove A/C unit and some clips to clear enough room to have alternator come up and out. No need to remove axle. May need some unique tools with angle ratchets, but simple to bolt top and bottom. To gain access to bolts and connections under vehicle a bonus.
