I think my alternator is bad. I have a 11 Chevy camaro v6. It starts and the battery light flashes and as soon as I try to accelerate the car it starts shaking! Should I replace the alternator?

Its possible, one quick down and dirty test you can do it put a multimeter on the battery with the car off and then start it and the reading should be about 2 volts higher.

Quick question. What is name/brand of tool you used to loosen the belt tension and size? And is it easy to get the belt off and back on again?

You pry the belt tensioner over and slip the belt off.

@@mjordanboyss2972 Use the snout of a 1/2 inch breaker bar or 1/2 inch ratchet. In other words, a bare 1/2 inch ratchet without a socket attached.

That's not how you disconnect the battery. You HAVE TO disconnect the negative terminal on the battery FROM THE TRUNK ONLY!!! YOU COULD BLOW FUSES OR FRY THE WHOLE ELECTRICAL SYSTEM!!!! DO NOT DISCONNECT THE BATTERY THAT WAY!!!!!!!!!!

Not sure about blowing fuses, but I disconnected those post ends without disconnecting from the trunk and the car still had power. I think sean gowan may have a point.

@@bamaboss99You will have power everywhere except at the alternator. The one cable I completely remove runs straight to the alternator. The reason for doing it this way is so you can safely remove the B+ cable from the alternator without worrying about shorting it to ground while you are removing the alternator. Otherwise, you have to remove the trunk carpet, floor liner, spare tire, and remove the negative cable from the battery. It's simply a time saver but by all means, if anyone s not comfortable doing it this way then they should do it at the battery.
