All you people out there shaming this car are wrong! of course the 5.0 is better but I daily drive my '14 with 40,000 miles already and it works great (with a manual.) Also I get 32-33 MPG on the highway so no complaints at all

you wouldnt want to. the weak link in our car is the driveshaft. which spins itself apart at about 120. but once you replace the ds with an aluminum 1 piece for about 500 bucks, you can get the limiter removed and unleash hell =p

compared to the 08 the steering is absolutely slippery, but you can really take this car up.. .i love mine

So far we put 27k miles on our '13 V6 Mustang and have done 5 oil changes and had a rear sway bar link replaced under warranty. So far so good. No CEL or any other problems, though it needs a new air filter (no biggie) and I plan on having the spark plugs replaced just before we hit 30k miles.

the reason for it is the driveshaft. the driveshaft they put on the car rips apart at 120 mph. search here for videos of v6's on dyno ripping the drive shaft in 2. now that said, you can swap the shaft for a 1 piece, pull the limiter and its 150's all day

i was surprised to see it was limited too. my '04 tiburon can do 140. speed isnt everything i guess since either one is illegal to do on the road anyways.

yes and no it's debatable. Yes, there is a video out there from AM however Ford determined that it was a factory mistake and replaced his driveshaft for free. Personally, once I get a Bama tune I might switch out for a one piece all aluminum for peace of mind but also weight reduction

the reason why it's limited is because if it hits 130ish mph, the driveshaft will explode.

Would V6 mustang be more reliable than the GT 5.0? I'm buying one soon, but I just can't decide if I should spend more money for more horse power, but I'm coming from 200 horse power. So 300 is a huge jump too.

It is speed limited because the driveshaft is WAY too long and it destroys itself around 135+. Pretty much a design flaw.

YOU WOULD THROW YOUR DRIVE SHAFT @ 135mph driving -a few FORD Hi Performance company's do make an alloy HI PERFORMANCE Drive Shaft conversion & if a V6 High Performance package "13" V6 is parts upgraded & the limiter turned off the car can do about 155mph for about $35,000 really well trimmed & w/lots of after-market performance upgrades & POWER option's installed

I guess I'm not really looking for a technical answer, but rather I'm simply stating that it is *very* unfortunate. It's fun to open it up on the interstate, I mean, track, once in a while.

The drive shaft issue is greatly exaggerated. I've read plenty of blogs from guys with tuners, who logged 135mph without losing a driveshaft. I've personally watched several KZbin videos of guys doing about 150mph in a 2011+ V6 Mustang. I'm pretty sure they all had a $690 one piece aluminum drive shaft and they must've have a $380 tuner, to remove the speed/rev limiter. Not bad for a $22,200 car, with about $1,100 in aftermarket upgrades

why would they? only way you can get to 130 on a '13 v6 mustang is by tuning it, when you buy it straight out of ford its limited to 112mph and it wont explode then... do you not understand?

Cerebrix that is BS! Have this car limiter off 140 for 15 minutes plus twice a week in rural Nevada. The shafts broke because of gearing, anything north of 3:31 you need a one piece like shaftmasters ect... Anything stock 2:73 or 3:31 no problem

This car weighs 3523lbs....that is not at all heavy for a pony car. Hell with a rear seat delete kit and performance parts you're looking at around 3450lbs...without driver

Tired of the driveshaft BS, TAKE MY 2014 pp over 140 weekly in remote Nevada desert. Stock shaft! Did 120 to 145 for 15 minutes multiple times! Stop

I'm sure there's a solution, but it's too much work for a brand new car. Imagine paying $30K of your hard-earned money for this car and then trying to figure out how to make it do that. If you're a mechanic, maybe it's not a big deal, but for "most people" who just enjoy driving, it's a bit of a problem. Why can the Focus ST go 155mph and this Mustang can't. It's a rhetorical question.

First the car without a ton of options, just the performance package and the tech package had a sticker about 26K. With discounts you could buy the car for 22 to 23K. It is easy to delete the limiter and then you have a 140 to 150 MPH car at a bargain price.

Daniel Five-Oh bro it's so much fun to drive. Unlike the 5.0, the handling and overall feel of the car is lighter and faster around corners. There's nothing slow about the 3.7.
