My wife just had both struts and the Right front CV shaft replaced on her 2014. Now we get lots of vibration under load at 40 and 60mph. Mechanic said the struts are aftermarket and the shaft is OEM. He said maybe the struts are the issue but i cant see that as that are not rotating.

Have you had the transmission software fully updated? There is a TSB for that which sometimes causes vibration, but that’s supposed to be for slower speeds. My dealer checked the rear driveshaft and said the u-joints were binding a bit but that wasn’t our vibration. They told us it was the passenger CV shaft, but it ended up being the driver side CV shaft if I remember correctly. After replacing both front CV shafts our vibration was gone. We changed our rear shaft later as a precaution since the u-joints were binding. New struts should not be causing vibration. Sometimes very badly worn struts can because when the wind under the car takes a bit of pressure off the suspension the springs around the struts can get bouncy because the strut can’t control them anymore.

@@JoesCarSmartsNY We did not get the software updated. The cv boot was torn up, full of dirt, and would click. Now that its been replaced we get all the vibration. It's possible the replacement shaft is faulty. I believe they should be done in pairs so I'll have him do the left side first then drive it. If its still vibrating then he'll make good on the right side.

@dirtycommtroop I understand better now. Looks like you’re on the right track.

Cheap cv axle. Try import direct CVS. No issues yet

@@mattglines4771 it was the cv axle and was even an OEM part.

Hey just a tip if you’re getting vibration it can be the intermediate shaft bearing also your lower engine mount looks cracked at the button bushing
@JoesCarSmartsNY2 жыл бұрын
Thanks. The violent shaking was from the left front CV shaft. I have some minor shakes left and will probably swap out the rear driveshaft before looking closer at the motor mounts.

Hello sir , is it both rubber boot upper and lower should have grease inside??? They mechanic shop replace my cv transaxle drive but the upper has no clamp and I look inside it totally dry no grease at all...??? After replace that do we have to do wheel alignment, thanks
@JoesCarSmartsNY Жыл бұрын
Both boots must have grease. If a joint is dry it will self destruct. No alignment needed afterward.

You probably have warped brake rotors if this only happens when you’re braking. Here’s a video for the fronts. They are more susceptible to warping: 2013 Honda CR-V Front Brake Pads and Rotors Tutorial kzbin.info/www/bejne/iWjLhJ2Cl9KbbK8

Any chance anyone know how you stick it back in? Does it get shoved back in and gets snug?
@JoesCarSmartsNY Жыл бұрын
You have to twist it a little when inserting it, to line up the splines. Then it just slides it. There may be a bit of tension at one point. At that point just push it and it will “click” in.

Wish i could find this seal. Not a single car place knows what the seal is
@JoesCarSmartsNY Жыл бұрын
It might be called the transfer case output shaft seal? Rockauto.com lists that. But to be certain it’s probably a good part to get from a dealer.

@@jordantoole6359 Sometimes you can search parts from dealers online and they will show you a blow up diagram of all the parts. Maybe try that? Or try another dealer. I’m baffled the dealer can’t figure it out. I bet if they were doing the work for you they’d figure it out quick.
