Never had these problems with my 2013 Elantra GT but I do the regular maintenance and drive it like it was designed for… a cheap commuter car. 170K miles only major issue was the stalling from a failing crank shaft position sensor. $100 R&R. I hope to keep this car until 300K! It’s been good us because we’re good to it?

My engine just went on my 2013 Elantra Gt lift back. Maintained it regularly. The dealer said that Hyundai extended the warranty to 10 years or 220,000 k. I have 124,000 k but it is 11 years old and they said they have to look into it because of the age.... Not happy. Paid 30,000 for it.

My 2013 Elantra developed the "tick of death" or piston slap at 53k. Replacement engine for $6000 that has 96k on it is the solution from the dealer. Car is worthless ($1k actually). Never buying Hyundai again.

My 2016 is at 122763 miles and has had piston slap since it had 54000 miles. The trick is to always even in 90 degree weather let it warm up so the pistons grow to the size of the bore. If you don't do this immediately after noticing piston slap it will die. Also you gotta change the oil religiously at 3000 or less. If you don't want transmission problems drain and fill every 30000 miles and yes the original brakes suck. Always duralast gold rotors and pads in the front standard in the rear and change brake fluid to dot 4 and change out fluid in master cylinder every brake job. I promise I'm sitting in mine now writing this. Also the motor trembles because of the transmission mount. Not the one under car... dogbone mount but the one under the battery. If you go in the wheel well on driver side there is a little door it's right behind it. Check it for breaks. That's the one that fails. Still owe $ on this car. I will never buy another one either I've had to change everything to keep it going and it does go through tires every 25000 miles

I saw you too bad for Hyundai before I bought mine and the lady put 1 million miles on it went to the dealer and they had to make a special odometer. Mine is a 2013 and I put a lot of miles on mine 179000. I got the car with 35000 mi 5 years ago and I've only had to replace a steering arm and a alternator and that's it

Okay im trying to do research on this car. Your video is the exact reason youtube is useless. Your showing images of different model Hyundai’s and other parts of “the car” which are clearly much older than an a 2013 elantra could possibly be.

I have this car, the ticking is the worst issue. No way cylinders should tick at 67K miles. Ridiculous and Hyundai won’t do anything about it. Everything else has been amazingly reliable, but it’s embarrassing driving around with this car that sounds like a piece of gravel in a tin can.

I just bought one, I'm picking it up in 2 days. We'll see....it's either the most amazing car they've ever owned, they have 234,000 miles on it and have only spent 300 dollars in repairs etc... OR it's a piece of crap and the engine went and they had to replace it under 100,000 miles, sometimes around 60,000. I see some say they have had nothing but problems with it and some say it has treated them amazingly for 10 years and still driving like new. I will say, I see WAY more positive than negative overall, and I have done alot of research on this car before buying it. It's scores insanely high in reliability and crash test/safety ratings. Great gas mileage, around 28/36 realistically from what I have heard, 32/33 averageish combined mpg for a long trip. And you can get them cheap compared to other similar vehicles, yet they look very sleek...they look more expensive/high end than you can get them for right now. Classified as a compact but it's closer to the smaller end midsized models than most other similarly-classified "compact" models.
