Hi John the voltages are duty cycled permanent live and the earth is switched on by the ECU (earth switch system) the reason your getting 9v is because your measuring the earth from the ECU trigger wire. The most likely case for low fuel pressure is your injectors . The injectors need power to both open and close and are common to stick

Good day all. John, it is ok to have reading you see when the engine is not running. The Valve is controlled via negative PWM ( pulse width modulation) signal from the ECM. I.e, there is always Battery + voltage on the valve, and the negative is applies as pulses by ECM, which receives data from Pressure Sensor on the other side of the rail. By adjusting pulse width, the ECM controls rail pressure. I've read a lot of theory and have great practical experience fixing CRD problems, after my Wrangler 2.8 CRD system rebuilt.

@@peterlaskov5954 there is somewhere a pressure leak. If you are able to start with spray and cars then works bormsl, then your high pressure pump is ok. 2 things to check. 1. Injectirs leakback volume. Most likely your injectors are leaking at low pressure. Replace the return valve assembly, it should be ok. 2. Nit enough supply pressure to high pressure pump. Less likely.

Maybe a bad ground in your wiring harness? Im having a simular issue with the 2013 2.0 TDI. Im getting an intermittent P0087 and the car looses power. Wont go over 2000rpms. But after shutting the car off and restarting it goes back to normal operation. Eventually the check engine light will go off. First, very sorry for ignoring this channel for so long. Basically for educational videos for my high school/college classes, and I retired 3 years ago, but recently started a new channel, I'll post a vid about that this evening still. ANYWAYS... if you are still wondering... the big thing I did not understand when I made this video is that the control signals are Pulse Code Modulated (PCM) as opposed to just strict DC voltage levels. A whole level up in sophistication! So I was never going to see the signals I was expecting using my basic voltmeter. It turns out there was nothing wrong with the pressure regulator. The real problem was with the injectors- the metalic micro particles that went through the whole fuel system and disabled them. I tried my best to repair the injectors, but in the end, I bought new ones, the car fired up, and I was able to take it to the dealer to basically cash in on the buyback deal! So yes, I bought and installed new injectors to drive the car a couple miles to the dealer for buy-back. I still love these cars a ton, and I was able to obtain two 2015 TDI's (last year made) for my wife and I. Plan to keep them till the end! The fuel pump risk was indeed a really big quality snafu. Anyways, hope this might STILL help in some way. All the best!

Those regulators are single use. Once you pull them off the rail, they need to be replaced. They use a knife edge seal that crushes when installed. They have very specific torque and a 3 step process.

One wire will be live and the other wire will be a signal wire. The signal wire will run back to the ecu and tell it percentage the outer casing will be ground. If you research your fuel pressure sensor you will see that most likely got 3 wires. One is live aprox 5v next will be signal wire this tells the ecu how much fuel pressure there is . Usual has a voltage coming from the ecu of around 0.5v and 3rd you guessed it ground .on petrols i have noticed the ecu usually controls the negative side of the injectors Not sure about diesels tho So injector will have a direct main feed from solid 12v supply and the ecu will basically open a passage up and tell it when to inject fuel

Hi there did you find the problem because I've got the same problem with my Passat 2009 2.0tdi. Broken HP Fuel pump which had been replaced with new one checked all the injectors all good accept the fault Low fuel pressure in the rail!
@alaskax6 жыл бұрын
The regulator was fine, the real issue was small metal particles from the "exploded" pump got to the injectors so they were not seating properly. Only a tiny amount of leakage there will shut down the high pressure in the rail. New injectors solved the problem, but that must be preceded by cleaning the entire fuel system which is a major ordeal. My hunch is that you may THINK the injectors are OK, as I did, but it does not take much leakage at all to compromise the whole thing, and rail pressure will not be maintained.
@desislavachipova57786 жыл бұрын
And what happened with the voltage drop on the regulator? Did the new injectors solve that too? Thanks a Lot!

Hey Adriann, no, the regulator should not keep any pressure if no power is supplied, if you switch your engine off and you have a VCDS connected to the car you should see that the pressure drops at about 10 bar...witch is ok!
@avasiloiu6 жыл бұрын
And how is the pressure kept at 10 bar in the ramp if the pressure regulator is not closed?because all the diesel goes back to the fuel fileter/gas tank.
@danielmihai3006 жыл бұрын
Adrian Madalin Vasiloiu actually is not 10 bar is 1.5 to 2 bar, and this value is kept by the fuel filter, this is the default pressure of the fuel system!

You don't have a Regulator problem. The ratings you are receiving are perfect. The Bleed Off is commanded by the ECU, so it will only occur when the 250bar minimum is measured by the Pressure Sensor, that will trigger the Fuel Pressure Regulator at that time. Vehicle needs to be running or cranking over for that process to occur. You have swarf in your Injectors I bet. You should always professionally test the Injectors and replace where necessary. Just simply looking at them is not enough. Replace the Fuel Filter and clean out the Common Rail too. Some go as far as replacing the in Tank Pump and cleaning out the Fuel Tank too.
