This is the first video of yours I found, and im so glad I found your page because I recently bought a 2013 mazda 3. So thank you for documenting all your maintenance!

Thanks for checking my videos out. I don't have a ton of Mazda 3 videos, but I do have at least 3 more that I want to do before the snow makes working out-side a pain. Honestly, although the car is pretty plain it's been an outstanding daily commuter. Cheapest car I've ever owned for fuel and maintenance.

Nice. You skipped the hard part on how to remove the oil plug.
@DIYNorth6 ай бұрын
I think the hard part is laying down under the vehicle.
@Keonyn2 жыл бұрын
This is even more practical now given that oil changes now go for about double this price.

I haven't looked lately, but the cost of everything is no joke this year. Save that money.

Yah I've been paying a little over 100$ for an oil change, forget that. I'm going back to doing it myself
@daoudaqtash92434 жыл бұрын
Don’t you use an aftermarket oil filter on these Skyactiv motors. The original filter comes with a specific check valve and no anti-drain back valve. The oil flow is much better with O/E oil filters. It’s only $6.75 at the Mazda dealership.
@DIYNorth4 жыл бұрын
Thanks for the feedback. I have a mazda filter on now and when its change time i'll cut it open to see the difference. I have had no issue with the Fram filters on this vehicle though. That said I've never had any issue with any filter on any vehicle. I acknowledge that it can be difficult to tell if a filter isn't performing as well as another filter.

That oil looked pretty dirty and black. How often do you change the oil?
@DIYNorth4 жыл бұрын
In accordance with the Mazda 3 change interval recommendation.
@andybub453 жыл бұрын
It won’t really hurt it if you change your oil when you are supposed to.

Wait what's the name of it? Can I just go to my local dealership and order a filter for mazda 3 2023?

You avoided showing how hard it is remove the drain plug. I could not remove mine.
@DIYNorth3 жыл бұрын
It shouldn't be overly hard unless someone over tightened it on the last installation. If it's difficult you can try something longer to help you get it moving.

He avoided showing how to remove it all all, frigging infuriating. The entire reason I'm here, what tool?
@DIYNorth Жыл бұрын
@@MichaelPoage666 I think that the reason you may be struggling is that you forgot to like and subscribe. If i may be of assistance though, the part you are struggling with functions just like pretty much every screw on earth (which is why I didn't get overly concerned with filming it.) You insert the 8mm Hex into the cut out in the head of the drain plug and turn it counter clockwise to remove it. You will need to turn it clockwise to tighten it. There is a possibility that someone changed the drain plug, in which case it might no longer be an 8mm hex. If it is really hard to remove it is because someone greatly over tightened your drain plug at some point. (that person was not me) I assure you that if your plug is over tightened, no amount of watching me remove a properly tightened plug will help you out.
@dnasty9816 ай бұрын
So…I will tell you guys how I removed the oil plug. Take a 8mm hex bit and insert it in the hole. Do not attempt to turn it until it fits snugly in the hole or you will strip it. Turn counter clockwise to loosen and clockwise to tighten. Also have a spare oil plug because it is easy to strip unintentionally and much easier to install. It is a reason why the op skipped this part in the video.

is your manual or automatic? i just bought mine 90,000 miles wondering about the clutch
@DIYNorth3 жыл бұрын
Mine is automatic and has a "life long" fluid. I'm not sure if the manuals are considered life long fluids.

Hi! What type and producer of motor oil can you recommend (I have the same mazda 3 Skyactiv 2.0 2013 - 58000miles) ? According to the manual have to use 0w20 or 5w30 (can't choose). In my country we have strong winter and hot summer. I bought my car from USA, now I have to do first maintenance in my country after shipping of the car.
@DIYNorth3 жыл бұрын
I usually use Mobil 1, 0 W 20 full synthetic. I also use Penzoil Ultra Platinum 0W 20 full synthetic. Basically whichever one of those are on sale.

@@DIYNorth what filter good sir?
@DIYNorth Жыл бұрын
@@reniarellano8507 the filter type and a link to it is in the description. A lot of people recommend the mazda filter. It's my understanding the mazda version has no backflow valve.
