Just did this today on a customers vehicle didnt have to drop subframe all the way just part way on pass side and then drop the 2 fuel tank bolt next to subframe and i was able to get my hand and grab the hose and swap it over, you do have to remove the 1 10mm bolt for the vent bracket to move vent out the way to remove hose clamp for that hose, did take some hours to do but not too bad.

approx cost to get this done?
@bugeye02707 Жыл бұрын
@@Danney22 about a ft and half of hose cost if you do it yourself, so less than $10, also the small evap leak can also be the purge valve you gotta test it to confirm

@@bugeye02707 yes my check engine keeps coming on even after resetting codes multiple times. P0456,p0455,p0442. Ive replaced the gas cap and still no luck. I dont have the tools to do this job so i was wondering approx cost if need to get it done by a mechanic. Im assuming its either the vent or purge

@@Danney22 Depends on shop rate here in california its $180 a hour, probably a 3 hour job or less if both solenoids need replacement.

Good Job for a very brave man who attempts these repairs without a lift. I don't know how he does it. The video could've been better if he made frequent announcements of the status of his investigation and his clearly stating his plan as he develops it. For instance, why should the fuel tank pressure increase after closing off purge and vent hoses? Was he pressurizing the system, or does normal operation pressurize it? Thanks for the good video.

Welp. Looks like I'm looking forward to dropping the subframe this weekend. Gotta replace that same exact hose.

@@madmike214 sweet. Just those 3 Subframe bolts on each side right ? Don’t have to mess with trailing arms or anything ? Wanted to make sure before I start prying to get subframe to drop. Kinda surprised it’s “sticking” since those 6 bolts are out. Edit: nvm. I’m dumb. Had to unbolt rear struts
@madmike214 Жыл бұрын
I believe so...been a while since I did that job, might have to inbolt the lower shock/strut mount

I have the same code on my 2012, however, it's a 50/50 shot whether the engine light's on or off, should i assume it's the gas cap in that case?
@madmike214 Жыл бұрын
Never assume... Always test, with that being said, with the age and mileage of the vehicle replacing the fuel cap would be a good preventive maintnance item...however...always use a dealer part for this, it's not expensive and you are guaranteed to get the correct part

I got the same code yesterday. I got a new gas cap today, how long does it take for the engine light to disappear if it was the cap? Im bringing it tomorrow to the mechanic but i just want to make sure im not jumping into mechanic when the code will eventually disappear if the driving cycle is not yet completed.

Touch to say, each manufacturer is different. Best practice is to be sue the gas tank is between 1/4-3/4, drive it for a long trip steady speeds at about 45-55...do this a few times, also let it sit over night after a long drive then do another drive the next day. Resetting monitors can be a pain

Is there a way to disable the leak sensor? One small car, with one small Vapor leak, should not be dangerous or destroy the environment…….
@madmike214 Жыл бұрын
@MikeSowsun just leave it as is then... you'll just have to look at a check engine light and if your county/state requires emissions testing you'll fail. I guess if you took it to a performance shop that does tuning they might be able to "disable" it but I highly doubt they would because they'd be liable...the EPA is not so friendly to shops that do that....now if the car was a track only car then that might be a different story... It's best to just fix it😉

How can I find a mechanic that does as good a job as you when finding these leaks. Live in California.

Maybe try yelp or a local social media page. Good luck

Actually...on this video it's the hose and I don't remember the part number, you have to go to the dealer for That, there is a part 2 of this, this had 2 issues, both parts I suggest going to the dealer for.
