Holy God some people need to get a hold of themselves. Steve's vids are more like adverts rather than reviews. Correct me if I'm wrong but he works for a car dealership. They are still quality adverts/demonstrations that also happen to be entertaining. Keep up the good work Steve.

You have no idea how hard I drove around in that parking lot..:) It was actually a reasonable "around town" test, in my opinion, that did provide a potential extra mile or two over your simple math calculation. I really wasn't "mocking" Emme Hall from Roadfly TV (now working for The Fast Lane Car). I was paying tribute to her and her car reviewing energy and style... It was a small "shout out" if you will. I don't care much for the cx-5 but your reviews are always excellent and entertaining. On a side note, i never realized how handy that keyless entry was until my dad got a new car with it. It is so nice not having to dig into my pockets, or backpack and try to untangle all the keys from my headphone wires and wot not.

That's an awesome review. This guy has personality and a lot of charisma and it will carry him a long way! This is not the usual car I would go for, I mean with 155 hp (probably means lower insurance premium), and 35 mpg on the highway (the mpg is pretty impressive for an SUV). Seems perfect for the weekend with the family, and it actually sounds like a sensible car to buy, if I had any sense. I need to hide this from the wife before she sees it, let's not give her any ideas... I want a sedan!

Missing a little info on what engine (2.0L or 2.5 or??) or trim line. I think this is the 2L version which is often noted for poor accelaration. The 2.5 L apparently is much better. A Diesel is avaliable in Europe and may come to North America for the 2015 model.

You might want to drive each one and see how they feel...and then ask yourself "Which one would I like to wake up and see sitting in my driveway everyday..?". That's what I do... Hope this helps. The car will beep with one press of the lock button and the horn will honk with two presses of the keyless entry button. BTW, try not to judge a car by a silly little thing like that.....because stuff like that is usually configurable by the owner/driver of the car. Lots of cars let you choose the unlock/lock sound or allow you to turn it off and on if you want.

the SkyDiesel will have better fuel economy (20-30% better), thats even though the diesel engine is turbo & 2.2L, as opposed to naturally aspired 2L SkyG. Diesel is 16 hp more, but most importantly more than twice the torque. Its going to be pricey though, as if they do like VW, they will force you into higher trim to access that mill.

I just got a cx-5... fun to drive, great gas milage, and new car so it turns more heads.. I also like it cuz ur higher up in the air... new chasis make the drive very sporty and fun

I can't speak for the new CX-5 because it's just being introduced. But I had a "99 Mazda Millenia that went for over 116,000 miles without any major repairs. So I believe the Mazda product will probably be fairly reliable..:) Steve

The gas-powered 155hp engine isn't that good, but here in Holland we have the 175hp diesel engine that packs 420 tq's! I drove it a while back and that engine is seriously good!

Only one engine? In Europe, despite the 2.0 l petrol, we have and 2.2 l diesel with two choice of power (150 and 177). Both diesel engines have better acceleration, higher top speed and better fuel economy. I really don't know why you don't have does types of engines. This diesel engine (like all today) is even better than the petrol one. I also thought that only petrol engine is good, but once when you try diesel you would never ever want to drive equivalent atmospherics petrol engine again.

26 mpg city or highway? I thought Diesels always have a much greater fuel mileage than gas.
