These are the sort of jobs that never pay the amount of hours you put in. But personally these are the most satisfying and rewarding. This is one of the best and complete parasitic draw test I have seen. So very well done and thanks for your knowledge. As for the ungrateful customer Bye Bye and don't be pressured into doing any other work for him again if he comes back.

Over the years I've found that some of the customers for whom you've done the best work appreciate it the least. I hope someday this one will return to you with a problem that "the other shops" can't figure out. And then you can happily tell them "NO".

Bruce that’s so very true and it’s so disappointing after you have done some great work

Sadel I seem to get so many parasitic drains mainly after the customer has spent time and money at previous garages having the simple parts changed, by then they have spent money and time without the vehicle then as you witnessed they are at the end of their patience. I felt for you at the end with the customer being upset even though you had followed the exact right diagnostic procedure without condemning incorrect parts, apart from the connector terminal cleaner, a bit of compressed air you supplied your knowledge to follow a direction path to give a definitive answer and you did, you gave it so precisely that I bet you felt great ( we all do) when you discovered the fault, you then are proud to tell your customer to then be flattened by their negative response and then to lose the customer is gutting. Mate all I can say is well done, although challenging it was great to see it’s not just me whom gets the challenging draws & as I said you did everything perfect, if you were a detective or a doctor and came to the correct answer you would of been patted on the back, appreciated and spoke highly of. Let’s just hope the customer views the video and reads these comments because WE are all behind you, and although I’m in the uk if I was local to you I would happily say to your customer “ you are not welcome at my workshop”. Don’t change a thing mate. Great content, as others have said I think it is the best PD video to date. Respect from the UK David Sinclair

Thank you for the kind words, it's awesome to hear someone that definitely understood my struggle. And funny thing on this one when I finally pulled that connector apart and saw the water, I did not feel "great" as we normally would, I felt "freed".... I felt that way because I had been on that truck for 15hrs stressed I was getting very tired, frustrated and beginning to lose hope. But luckily, I was able to overcome this one's challenge. Thank you for watching and thank you for the support! 👍

Amazing! I think the most converluted parasitic drain diags I've ever seen. Brilliant of you to share it and your knowledge Sadel! I have to admit that would have checked for bus activity. Found my way to the ABS and almost certainly would have pulled the trigger. What a huge mistake that would have been. You are then on the hook for the rest of the job. I learnt a great lesson today!
@DTEAutoАй бұрын
Glad it was helpful! And yes, I was seconds away from calling and stopping at the abs, to the point I was already pricing it out.... luckily nothing was readily available and so I decided to see if I could verify the abs on the bench. Thank you for watching

I can't believe it Sadel! I thought the problem was isolated to the ABS Control Module in the previous video! This is crazy! The best battery draw video I have seen. At the end did you find out from where that water was getting into that connector? Otherwise, is going to do it again! That was a lot of water! Really good diag Sadel. Thank you for sharing brother!

Hola primo sadel . Que lío el de esta camioneta pero me gusta su persistencia y eso se valora . Únicamente me pregunto ¿ cómo le hace para cobrar un diagnóstico así y que usted no le calcule mal? Cuídese mucho primo .

Off topic. No communication with module, access module test power and ground, jumper leads from OBD 2 port to communication pin/wire at module, communication restored, bad wire, still no communication inspect possible separate circuit for wake-up call, still no communication with healthy data line, bad module. What do you think of my approach? Thank you in advance for your answer.

Customer was probably mad because he remembered doing something stupid like pressure washing his engine compartment. Did the source of the water ever get discovered?
@DTEAutoАй бұрын
No I didn't end up finding cause unfortunately
@thelocknut7509Ай бұрын
Curious...what exactly was it that the customer was expecting? Don't understand what they were unhappy with.
@DTEAutoАй бұрын
He was expecting it to be fixed by me since his shop and the dealer couldn't figure it out, but he was not expecting me to want to charge for so much time that it actually took to figure out the problem. My mistake was assuming that he was wanting it fixed no matter what it took, and so I didn't let him know it was taking so many hours. Ultimately, he is one of the many that doesn't respect diagnostics and paying for it. If I would have said it took me only one hour of diagnosis and it "needed" a $2,000 computer he would have been fine, but if I said the bill is $2,000 for all the time to figure out no parts needed, he now has a problem.
@rodvan-zeller6360Ай бұрын
Great job. What do you mean he fired you? Who fired you?
@DTEAutoАй бұрын
The customer "fired" me, meaning he decided to not ever come back to me for service after fixing this crazy truck for him.

@@DTEAuto What an ingrate, instead of appreciating your hard work. You did an excellent job and sharing it with us is priceless. It reminds me of a past employer who asked me after I figured out a difficult problem, "what can you do different next time so it won't take as long", there was no next time I left that shop.

So, lesson to us, mere mortals: 1. Pretend I am just a dumb user / driver. Get in the car, look around, I might see some evidence of prior "work": relays lying around, Huge Colossal Parts Cannon lying on the floor, etc. 2. Do the basics first: check voltage DROP on fuses (takes a minute or two). Note: pulling fuses and relays is a 10000 year old profession, never dies. 3. Using the two previous Rules of Life, there will be no need for gizmos, expensive trinkets, etc.
@DTEAuto20 күн бұрын
if you can do this without gizmos and expensive trinkets to verify what isn't the problem, and what is...... than you are the most amazing diagnostician ever that no one has ever heard of, I suggest you start a channel to show us immortals how to do things right.
