Hi not sure if anyone will respond but I’m having an issue with my 2005 g35 coupe as well nothing as severe as in this video. My g has the battery and brake like come on at the same time, sometimes they are fully lit and sometimes they are dim, And going over bumps they flicker ,the car drives normally just has a rough time starting sometimes and at least one time every time I start it it almost wants to die at the red light but it doesn’t, after I take off it’s fine and it doesn’t do it again till I restart the car. Decided to put a brand new battery and checked all ground wires everything looks good but still have the battery/brake light! I want to say it’s the alternator but don’t want to spend another 200+ for the lights to still be there, also I have no other engine codes or anything like that just the battery and brake light come on at the same time! If you have any ideas please help me out🙏

Thanks for the video. With the variation of signal timing, on initial crank I was thinking it would be related to oil pressure building up during the cranking. Something to do with chain slack, chain tensioners or the phasers. I don’t know the timing chain design so am just speculating. Thanks again for the post

Saw something similar to that on an SMA video, the phaser/cam assembly was 'jumping' around when cranking the engine, resulting in unusual scope patterns

I have the same engine in my BMW. My engine started making a consistent, constant thumping sound when the engine is up to temp. Almost in like a heartbeat sequence thump thump....thump..thump ..it only does it when the engine is up to temp. I have no idea wish you were closer to me here in Alabama. Do you have any idea what that could be making that noise? BTW, subscribed to the channel. 👍

It's difficult to say, although I'm pretty sure the screen in the pick up is definitely not as fine as the ones on the solenoids.

Thank you for all the diagnoses, it's crazy what some people will do to their expensive cars. AS FOR ME, I do not trust a floating voltage or ghost voltage, or voltage fluctuation on a scope or multimeter as these devices are high-impedance tools and do not load the circuit or do not pull amperage enough to load a circuit. When I see these funky voltages, I then touch my normal test light to the line and if the voltage drops down near ground, I know the circuit in question cannot carry a load to light a normal test light as seen as a loss of voltage on the meter or scope. Now I can trace a weak contact, splice, fuse box problem, corroded fuse terminal?? In this case, I would have backfeed 12V one junction at a time towards the fuse box until I found the VD. In the end, as it always is, finding the actual problem as the very last step, an improper type fuse inserted into the fuse box, OMG

Why wouldn't you scope the pressure on the bad cylinder? You would've seen the bad exhaust valve right away

In cylinder pressure shows you if there is a leak and displays lower pressure readings because of it. The test won't show the actual place of leak, just the presence of a leak, that's why you have to test around the in cylinder to see where the pressures are not acting correctly to pinpoint the source. A broke piston ring/lower end problem will display a similar waveform, both create a leak, so further testing would need done to find the leak area. Plus, a lot of what I put out is to teach and show others how you can perform test to find problems, not displaying the silver bullet fixes.

The psi cylinder test is the number 1 test to do. You teach them how to read a cylinder waveform they would've found that cylinder never pulls vacuum with that huge exhaust leak. Also the compression waveform of that cylinder would prolly be very obvious

By the way u could of made this used donor ecu start the car without removing the eeprom Chip the autel will make it start transfer the immo just won’t rewrite the vin to do that u need to open the ecu and read/write the eeprom 😊just like u said

neat seeing the scope and all. but a scan tool like an autel can just bring up the live readings and you will see which cam is out. you can just tap them in to place to get the engine light off and the engine running good again. The cause of this is failed intake cam gear (usually bank 1) that rattles due to internal failure and causes it to "hammer" the cam sensor reluctor wheel out of position. eventually, it will happen again until you replace that gear.

This video doesn't currently help me. But I also bought the 2.0 I'm trying to program a new fob. The battery died in the original I used a dremel opens it and replaced the battery. Now the fob buttons don't do anything but still starts the 06 BMW 530XI E60 6SPD MANUAL. Fob goes in the steering column like a key. Have bought a replacement on Amazon need to program..With the Launch Elite Pro V2.0 and trying to program the fob I have a replacment fob. Can you help?
