I liked the video, great effort put into it and excellent people in the panel. The only thing that I think could have been better was the duration. Each point felt like rushed, without much depth, not like a review of the nominies but more opinion from each person of the panel about that point. Maybe it was done to be similar to the other content in terms of lenght? Appart from that, it was amazing, keep up the good work :)

You know, there could have been an actual discussion here. I think Santa Claus on the left there was keen to actually talk about each movie for a minute or two. Instead we just get random slams from each of the guests, with no structure or attempt to discuss what was so terrible about each film compared to the others, or in what order they might be ranked. It felt like you were in a hurry, but I think it would have been a good clip if you had spent 15 minutes on it. In the end it felt like a 15-minute clip that someone had edited down to 5 minutes for no reason. Also, young Santa Claus on the right needs to be dropped. He doesn't really do anything except shout and call dumb shit 'awesome'.

I'm so proud that of the five movies discussed, I didn't waste my money on a single one of them. 2012 was a year of polarizing films, I enjoyed the blockbusters such as TDKR and the Avengers but also discovered films such as Moonrise Kingdom (which I believe was far less adorable then most people seemed to, but still expanded my horizons) and Safety Not Guaranteed (which was great).

Cloud atlas is pure fucking genius since it followed the philosophy of David Michelle just right. The only problem is that it was way too long for some people, was confusing for people who did not read the book, and it did not transition to each act very well. It also had some issues with taboo subject matter and cannibalism. The movie managed to stay consistently funny, had a lot of action, and had the same genius as the book.

I disagree about Tarantino. First of all he had 3 lines in the 1 scene he happened to be in and that scene was already shitty as it was. I LOVE Django Unchained but the movie should have ended 30 minutes before it did (wont be specific as to not spoil it for people who have yet to see it)
@haiggoh11 жыл бұрын
Agreed, the scene was badly written enough to be shitty with or without his performance. Though, being a huge Tarantino fan and having seen his performance in other movies like Reservoir Dogs or even Pulp Fiction we KNOW he can do so much better, that's why this scene in Django is even more disappointing so I think a Razzie nomination would have been justified. I have no problem with cameos, but either they have to be well-executed and shouldn't feel forced like in Django. Otherwise you'd better keep 'em quick and dialogue-free, like in Peter Jackson in the second Hobbit movie (he walks across past the camera biting a carrot and that's it, nice and clean)
@TrueIronMaidenFan11 жыл бұрын
haiggoh How was it disappointing when he was in the film for less than 2 minutes and barely had a line of dialogue. I really don't get what was so bad about it. How can a performance he exceptionally bad or exceptionally good when it is less than a minute long? In Pulp Fiction and Reservoir Dogs he has much more screen time and dialogue.
@haiggoh11 жыл бұрын
Sure, he didn't have a lot of dialogue, but the little he had and the non-verbal acting were already enough to judge it imho. He just didn't seem convincing and neither did the other two. I don't wanna get into detail because of spoilers, but they way the acted in the scene did't seem believable at all. The shorter the performance is, the more exceptional I expect it to be in order to get its own scene dedicated to it. It just felt forced like the scene was basically just put there so he could have his shitty cameo. And if that's really the case it definitely wasn't worth it. Like you said, the whole last 30 minutes were kinda pointless anyway. It's a brilliant movie but a bad editing decision for the finale. It's obvious where the real finale should have been, I guess we can all agree on that.
@TrueIronMaidenFan11 жыл бұрын
haiggoh the last 20 minutes of the film were COMPLETELY unnecesary. You know when it should have ended (I wont say due to spoilers) but damn what an ending that would have been. Still a fabulous movie, would have been my 2nd choice for best picture right after Silver Lingings Playbook.
@haiggoh11 жыл бұрын
Jup. Well Silver Linings Playbook was not my very favourite movie of the year but I'll agree that is was really good and the Oscars it received were well-deserved. Just as Christoph Waltz's Oscar though I would argue that it was more of a second lead role than a supporting role but well, I guess the line for that is kinda blurry.

So many people say that the Amazing Spider-Man film was so much better than the first Spidey film. I was one of them for the longest time, but as the hype kinda wears off, I can easily say that both films were better than each other in certain aspects. Both were great in their own ways. Spider-Man had a more compelling villain. The Amazing Spider-Man had better supporting characters (besides Aunt May). Both did great jobs with Uncle Ben. Spider-Man was a more re-watchable movie (Probably due to it's lighthearted nature). The Amazing Spider-Man had a better Peter Parker and Spider-Man as a whole. The Amazing Spider-Man had a much better "New Yorkers help out Spidey" scene (Crane operator with a debt to Spidey aids in quick travel for injured hero vs. random NY citizens with pre-planned speeches for Goblin and cars full of rotten food and misc. junk to throw while Spidey saves perpetually screaming redhead and kids). Spider-Man had a more memorable music score (The strings and percussion played in a way that totally gave the score a creepy spider movement vibe, whereas I hardly remember TASM score and I watched it for the 15th time, yesterday). It's really hard to be subjective because I grew up on Spider-Man cartoons, so I fell in love with the first two Spidey movies. Heck, my first comic was a Spider-Man comic. But we have to face the reality that neither of the two franchises are perfect, but they have their moments. I really hope that Marvel doesn't get the movie rights for Spidey back for a while, because we all know what they'd do with him (see Ultimate Spider-Man cartoon on Disney Channel). I'd like to grow old and die before I ever see Spidey ruined like that on the big screen!

Several issues which I identified to Paramount and was invited to work on #2. I didn't, I retired. They completely ignore the established history of Trek dating back to TOS (on screen history). 1) Alternate time line/universe thing is a weak plot point 2) Vulcans don't get kissy face nor flirt, they do Pon Far every 7 years. 3) Enterprise was a Constitution Class Cruiser, not the flagship. 4) Oh hell, I have a long list and yes, I occasionally worked on TREK post TNG.

There were tons of things wrong with The Amazing Spider-man. It wasn't just because it was a repackage of the first Spider-man movie (and written by the writers who wrote Spider-man 3). I don't mind a fast-paced film. Empire, Raiders... were fast paced. As for the Sauron & Smaug thing, it's starting a subplot that won't pay off. Something they won't develop either as you won't see any interaction between the two. It starts and ends at that table. Let's face it. We're never going to agree on this. So, instead of going on and on, let's just agree to disagree. What say you? :)

Amazing Spider-Man was not re-make. It was the first live action Spider-Man movie that actually felt like it was based off the comic books. The Tobey Maguire movies seemed like they were made by someone one vaguely knew who Spider-Man was & maybe read one of the comics once.

Well... the plot was set during his highschool years (which was when the comics took place), his web slinging didn't come out of his wrist. He had to make the machine itself. His girlfriend is Gwen Stacy (also canon). The reason I've said that "it followed the comics more" is because I know that it still isn't as accurate as the comics however when you compare to the older films, The Amazing Spiderman follows the mythos more. Use your head before acting like a smartass.

Spider-Man 3 was written by Alvin Sargent, Sam Raimi, and Ivan Raimi. The Amazing Spider-Man was written by James Vanderbilt, Steve Kloves, and Alvin Sargent. Only one writer was the same, and he wrote one of the early drafts. Not like they got David Koepp to write it, who wrote the 2002 film. Also, you "repackaged" my statement that it was based on the same source material.
@PicardSisko712 жыл бұрын
FYI, Spider-Man came out in 2002, and although this is just opinion, the Green Goblin looked so much sillier than the Lizard. The movies are quite different, but the fact of the matter is that both are based on the same comic book, and will share similar plot points. Calling them the "SAME MOVIE" is a pretty ignorant statement.

I don't think Tarantino's role in Django was meant to be solid. It was comic relief. Not saying comedies have a pass, but it's like Shakespeare. You have an intense story until it gets boring. The boring point is where you add in the comic relief. It was like that in Pulp Fiction, but I'll say Tarantino's acting in Pulp Fiction was much better.
