I love this musical. It was the first Broadway play that I ever saw and my inspiration to join theatre at school. Definitely one of my favorites. At the time that I saw this, I had just finished reading the book for school. Once I saw it, I became very obsessed, and I still am! So good!

lol trolling? The music in this show is amazingly clever and uses masterful word-play. It also makes many refrences to Dahl's works and the book itself. There is a reason the show is so well-received. Your opinion is of less worth than the man on the corner wearing Doomsday signs and a tinfoil hat. No one care if you see it when it's already a success.

I think Erica is Beatrice's understudy just in case someone get sick or can't perform. I do a lot of theater stuff drama kids know this stuff.
@hallejenns142510 жыл бұрын
They both play the same character. There are two or three actors for each child role so that none of the actors get worn out performing every day, and there is always a stand by for every character. They have three 'teams' so the cast rotates meaning there are no under study's for the kids roles.
@ailsagraham80019 жыл бұрын
so do i and everyoneknows that and there are also teams and you should know that i yu are a d "drama kid"
@madisonjackson42939 жыл бұрын
Halle Jenns The "Teams" are only for the West End cast. On Broadway they have "Swings" which is a performer who learns multiple roles in the show and can step in for any of the roles when needed, but only one child on broadway hold the "title role", there are no teams, only one child per role and a swing to fill in for them when needed. Erica Simone Barnette was a swing for both Lavender and Amanda Thrip, so she could come in the show for either character, but wasn't the primary actress for either role. If you pause the video, at 1:36, you can see Erica filling in for Beatrice as Amanda, and then in the next second, 1:37, you can see her filling in for Frennie as Lavender in Miracle. Also in "Bruce" when she is not Amanda, you can see her as Lavender on the opposite side of the screen.

I was in another show and it wadnt west end and they jad teams. Thats wat tjry done for all og the shows i have been in Madison Jackson

So, does the Matilda character not have a show stopping number they could feature here?
@2L84U7 жыл бұрын
Matilda has plenty of songs, but they're generally not as lively as the ones depicted in the trailer (Bruce and Revolting Children). Her songs such as Naughty and Quiet are amazing, but they don't fit with the upbeat, exciting theme of the trailer, so I expect that's why they're not included.
@jasperblight19727 жыл бұрын
hi
@sunderlandgrl11 жыл бұрын
I don't see how the school uniforms are relevant. It's not just private schools that have uniforms in England. It's actually very rare to find a school in England without a uniform therefore to stage this musical without the kids in uniforms would be silly. I can see how people get that thought from the Revolting Children performance, but to compare it to Spring Awakening is definitely wrong based on remote similarities in one performance. The rest of the show is very different.
@sunderlandgrl11 жыл бұрын
No...it's really not. Please go and see the show first before making that comment again. Then you will understand that both shows are nothing alike.

just to play devils advocate, there are a lot of superficial similarities in this video. kids in private school uniforms breaking rank to sing rock songs. He is wrong about the musical, but you can see how he thought that from the video
@desireunikorn50183 жыл бұрын
This isnt necessarily a private school. Matilda is set in Britain, and british schools have uniform. It is very rare to find one without it.

No need to get defensive, you're right I haven't seen Matilda. Excuse me for not being affording a plane ticket to NYC and a ticket to a current Broadway show. However, I've read the book and seen the movie and there are more similarities in the stories than I think you're acknowledging. Both focus on a student not being challenged enough in school, surrounded by adults who don't understand/pay attention, both try to convert others to their beliefs. So calm down, it isn't "*NOTHING*" like SA.
