I would put extra oil as suction line was dripping oil earlier in video. The drier will allow 1 oz of extra oil with slugging compresser. Always good idea to check disectant filter while system is open to determine if compressor dumped containments in drier. Then add additional oil in condenser to allow for spillage. Always use plugs on compresser so junk doesnt fall in or oil spills out.

I'm confused on the oil. I ordered a denso compressor on autozone. It comes with oil inside it but not an extra bottle. I'm not sure if I have to check the level? It seems I could just bolt it on. In the video he drains half an ounce of oil and adds half an ounce back. Then says it contains 5 to 8 ounces. How does h3 know if it's at the right level. Reading my instructions here it says to maybe remove excess oil. So I have to drain the oil one and then compare it to the new one? Idk man
@gautorepair2 жыл бұрын
If you're not flushing the entire system of the oil then you have to equalize or compensate the system to prevent over charging it with oil. For example a system may contain 6oz of oil but you only replace the compressor. The compressor should technically contain most of the oil of the system. You remove the old compressor and drain it. Measure the amount of oil lets say 3oz come out. Then you drain the new compressor and add 3oz to it. You can add a little extra like maybe an oz but don't overdo it

You should add the amount of oil that came out. If nothing came out maybe add 1 or 1 1/2 ounces of oil.

Why didn’t you just change the flow sensor if that was the problem. Why change the whole compressor
@gautorepair4 жыл бұрын
That is a very good question. In my case this was a new compressor that was defective so the compressor was replaced under warranty. But lets say it was not warranty. Then you would have to take into account the age and mileage of the old compressor. If its very old, how much more before it takes a crap? The flow sensor is not readily available in most cases and the compressor might be on its last leg anyways by the time this sensor fails.
@westernapache17004 жыл бұрын
Stick a small neodymium magnet to the snap ring holding the flow sensor in. If the compressor clutch still doesn’t engage try flipping the magnet over to change the polarity. I had the same code in my 2011 Sienna. Put magnet on and works good! Try it next time. You can also buy aftermarket flow sensors on eBay and Amazon. Magnet takes 30sec though. The flow sensor gets corrosion underneath and/or the sensor goes bad. Compressor is still good usually.
@Sergio-bs4dx2 жыл бұрын
The problem is not the flow sensor. The issue is the solenoid control valve, I had the same issue and changing the flow sensor wont solve it. After replacing the solenoid control valve it worked like a charm.

@gautorepair4 жыл бұрын
In this case i was getting a ac flow control valve code. Also the air would normally blow cold but every now and then it would get hot and stop working. If you're ac is not blowing cold air at all it could be the compressor. You will have to check refrigerant pressures.

hello there, my 2013 corolla is high side pressure goes up to about 400 psi and cuts out, and will kick back on at about 275 then back up again and repeat, sometimes it will be fine and my low side pressure is at 35 and high about 250-275, but when high side elevates and kicks out pressures do not recover to where they should be and im without a/c working proper. is this a restriction at orfice or block in condenser/accumulator? ive also read about a electronic compressor solenoid valve,? not sure where that is located . any advice or tips would be appreciated, thank you Rod
@gautorepair4 жыл бұрын
Sounds like a restriction but its weird that sometimes it is ok. You may have moisture in the system. Replace the receiver/ drier and make sure you pull a good vacuum on the system. Recharge the ac and see what happens

@@gautorepair hi there, sorry for delay in getting back to you, thanks for the advice, i was also thinking restriction like orfice screen or receiver dryer, i had a tacoma that had a blockage and the receiver dryer is in the side of condenser. im diving in tomorrow or next day, my research is pointing to a solenoid that is in the compressor, i bought one online and hoping this is problem. ive done refrigeration work of every type over the last 20 years and it is getting so difficult these days to diagnose issues. wiring is just a nightmare. i let you know how it turns out ! thanks Rod

To replace the flow control valve is pretty straightforward. Replace the receiver drier. Sometimes if there is moisture in the system it could freeze and cause a temporary blockage until it melts. Keep me posted. Thanks
