Thank you for this. We had one in the shop and I thought it was going to be an all day ordeal. Thanks to you it has only been a half day ordeal. Thank you so much for this, it helps a ton!

Done a lot of these, there is an easier way for the bracket bolts…..take the 3 bolts out of the lower motor mount and front lower mount and jack it up. Makes all of it easier. Actually it’s a good flat rate job after you have learned the tricks.
@bulldogsautomotiveadventur4387
@bulldogsautomotiveadventur4387 2 жыл бұрын
I had never done one before, minus the bracket it was about flat rate. Blew my mind when it dropped right back in, my mistake was not taking that plastic cover off the rear head first.

They were doing that when I first started…being at a rural independent shop I miss a lot but I’ve been in the business for quite a while. Lol. I remember some time ago they were using a vacuum system and collapsing tanks.

That's what I did and it makes it so much easier. You only need to jack it up about 6 inches an you have access to everything!

205,000 on my 2010 Highlander and the water pump is making the graveling noise but not leaking yet, so here I am! Took the belt off tonight and can barely feel some play in the shaft but I can definitely here the bearing friction when spinning the pully with my hand. Neven even changed the belt prior and it looks great. Go Toyota go!

To get that bracket off easier than the hudinne trick through the lines. Take the motor mount bolts loose from below. Jack motor up a little and they come right out. Its 4 nuts below

Great video thank you for taking the time to make it. When you take the pump out, are you taking it out of the bottom in the wheel well or from the top last question once the pulley is removed from the mount, you leave it in place while you move it around that’s what allows you to get enough access to the four bolts behind it?

So you didn't pull the motor, but did you have to support it in any way ? And did you have to move it up or down for anything? I have to do this job this weekend just making sure I cover all areas also how much antifreeze came out how big of a pan do I need to catch it.

If I was hustling I’d get it done in less than a day but I usually take my time with timing belts, day to day and a half.

I have a 2012 Highlander Hybrid with bad water pump - they are saying 2000 and an all day job, possibly 2 days...can it be quicker this way on the Hybrid?
@bulldogsautomotiveadventur4387
@bulldogsautomotiveadventur4387 Жыл бұрын
Never done one on a hybrid, but the standard offers an option of with or without engine removal and the hybrid doesn’t, engine removal calls for double the time on the hybrid

Is their a big difference in replacement procedure between the 2GRFKS and 2GRFE Highlander?

I wouldn’t think so, labor guide only differentiates 3.5 or not, years do make a difference, newer ones are easier

If you disconnect the lower engine mount that bracket is easier and you gain a tad more room. Also when coming out. You can just leave the bolts flopping around in the bracket no big deal. But not bad video 👍
