A drill or impact would have made your repair sooo much more quicker and efficient, excellent walk thru video however. What an undertaking though to get to the transmission though I do appreciate the somewhat simple design of the engine and transmission cabin... Getting ready to checkup mine, 90K and still running good. Excellent vehicles in my experience. Bought it used 16K miles, have went thru one wheel hub, one transmission position sensor, a few wheel speed sensors just a few minors.

Thank you for sharing your skills. My 2014 Kia Rio is having transmission servicing at an actual Kia service center.. Hopefully they will do as good and detailed job as you did in this video. Not sure what questions I should ask. Also not sure what I should look for on the service documents. The Kia was newly purchased as a used vehicle. I noticed the vehicle slopage only after the purchase. The dealership gave me a loaner until the transmission is repaired (or replaced). I hope they do a top notch job for my safety sake.

@@s33therfan thx.for your reply. I hope I will not trouble you by asking the following question. What should I expect once I start and drive my Kia if the "relearn" Process was not performed. Can I calibrate the process myself by driving it as you gave a minute overview? Should the repair paperwork include the relearn? I know your time is precious,

You will know if the relearn was not performed , because the shifting will be off. For example shifting too soon or too late. The relearn is really where they reset the values or clear the old transmissions learned values. From there you just would drive it like normal. If this was not done you will need a scan tool capable of clearing the old values. I used an autel mx808. Hope all goes smoothly , thanks for the question.

How does the new torque converter seal? Does it sealed well? Because i saw you used a thicker one comparing to the original seal. I am having issues with the original seal, replaced twice already and going to three times now. Stil leaking. I am using the 46131-3b600 part number. If you dont mind sharing the part number of the seal that you used. TIA

Yes the seal I used worked out great. It was a Duralast from Autozone , only one they had on the shelf at the time. Part number Duralast Transmission Seal 320583. Hope this helps , thank you for the feedback.

As far as I know they are different , in those years.

It just has a 6 spd automatic , the newer years with the turbos started using the dct 2016 and up I believe. Thanks for the question.

sounds like the classic Kia connecting rod bearing failure. Mine's at the dealer getting a new engine for that reason (paid by Kia) right now.
