In September of 23 while looking to get info on what to do with my 2015 Forte Transmission, I came upon your video. I wish I could come to your shop for servicing my Kia. You have "passion" for your job. And my Kia Forte (with 360,000 miles on it) could benefit from your expertise. By the way, no one has ever seen a car like mine. Pristine condition and still in great shape. Someone said I may need a new transmission, but I´m not sure.

so all the symptoms and everything point to a bad torque converter on this 2011 Kia Sorento (see previous comment), I'm tearing it down now but wondering, is there anything I should replace while it's out, new pump maybe ? Symptoms are low power and slow/poor acceleration, will not shift in automatic mode but will shift in manual mode. Fuel pressure, compression, everything else checks out okay, not getting any noise out of transmission and fluid looks decent, pretty much have narrowed it down to torque converter.

I’m watching this because my girlfriends Kia soul 2010 is slipping or dropping a gear continuously only when you reach speeds of about 75-80, but only when you hit those speeds does it slip for lower gears as well. Odd to me, planning on getting a back up trans just to be on the safe side. No idea maintenance history, 101k miles, do you think it’s bad idea if I drain and replace the fluid with these symptoms? Thank you for the informative video, will use it as reference if it ever comes down to that.

Hey boss, great video. I have a couple questions: first, about how long do you think this job took total? Secondly, I was told by someone at a transmission shop near me they wouldn't put a used transmission in my car because he's seen far too many go bad and then have to charge them again to take it out. How likely and/or common is this situation? I have a 2011 Kia Soul and found a used transmission with less mileage than my vehicle for a good price, but now I'm scared to go forward with it hearing that. (The shop guaranteed the parts for 90 days and said it came from the same exact model and year of Soul.)

Lkq has an excellent replacement warranty if you are worried about such a thing on a used transmission.

Hi there, I have a 2010 Kia soul 2.0 which it doesn't go above 30 mph and it doesn't want to go in reverse. I've checked air, fuel system. It seems ok. I don't have an engine light on. Do u know the symptoms of a bad torque converter?
@RustBeltAuto4 жыл бұрын
Torque converters have a stator in them with a one way bearing. Either it works, or it doesn't. There also may be a clutch in there, but those don't need to work. The converter will stall, but still function at a higher rpm if it's not working.

Rust Belt Auto: I recently bought an 03 Pilot with 198k miles. It strikes me as being well maintained (no proof/m.log). Current liquids all seem fresh in the motor. Even current trans has a decent red color (slightly darkened). What would your opinion be on replacing the trans fluid? I've heard don't change it if you don't know. Would you agree? Thank you if you find the time. Your opinion is appreciated.
@RustBeltAuto4 жыл бұрын
You just remove the drain plug, and do a dump, and fill on those. It's usually like 4 quarts. Some people do it a second time after driving it a while. Wouldn't hurt to do a dump, and fill. Only use original Honda fluid on that. If it's burnt, I don't replace it.

Can I be really annoying.. and ask if you have the P/n for the transmission you used? I think oem p/n is: 4500023470RCA but don't know what part you used. Also, could you confirm that this is the same process and transmission for VIN: KNDJT2A2XB7710444.

I watched this hoping it would be similar to the 2011 Sorento I'm working on (hoping I wouldn't have to take off the subframe) but looks like I am going to have to remove it, good video. How come you used the engine support jig instead of just putting a jack under the engine since it looks like you didn't have to remove the subframe ?
