2014-2019 Jeep Cherokee 2.4L MultiAir junk yard engine swap.

After finding a crack in a cylinder we decided to install an engine from a salvage yard.
The 2.4L multiair was used in a lot of different vehicles so finding one was easy and fairly inexpensive.
Main reason for this video is because I put the engine in from the top instead of remove the subframe. I try to point out what was easier and what I would do differently .

What other video? I would like to see the removal of the engine. Procedure has you dropping it from the bottom with the transmission, but I see you left the tranny in. Love seeing how other people shortcut some things and comparing notes! Thanks for posting this video, knowledge is power and wisdom is experience learned!

Dumb question but im doing this on a 16 chrysler 200 soon. Where did you end hooking up to on the engine? For the cherry picker

@@stechmer1 good question, when removing I had the head off so I just used a couple of the head bolts. Going back in I used the passenger side motor mount bolts and drivers side I don’t remember exactly I’m thinking it was one of the starter bolts

Do you have any tips on removal? 2018 compass but same engine. I guess I could watch your video in reverse, just wanna get an idea of any key notes.

@@evilspartians4590 remove as much of the plastic and sound damping material as possible. Take your time and make a note or better yet take pictures as you go. The more stuff removed from the back side the easier it will be to get out.

@@pawankumarthadhani7854 did you get from a salvage yard? There were a few vin number questions my local yard asked me, I don’t know all the vin info I’m sorry. If both are multiair engines of the same displacement it may work… I had to change a few items.
