2014 - 2019 Toyota Highlander - How To Reset Oil Life Light - Clear Maintenance Required Soon

A video tutorial on how to reset the oil life as well as clear any other maintenance lights on a 2014 - 2019 Toyota Highlander.
If your Toyota Highlander is in need of an oil change, you may see a notification of "Maintenance Required Soon" on your dash. This video will illustrate one of the methods for clearing the Maintenance Required Soon notification, which will also reset the oil life.

Thank you. There are other explanations on KZbin. Yours is the best. You move the camera to show what you are doing as you explain. My oil change with sybthetic oil is due every 10,000 miles. The light comes on every 5,000 miles. You saved me a trip to the dealer in between oil changes.

Huge help! The oil change guys always reset me at 5000 miles even though I’m using synthetic and doing it every 7500ish. So nice to be able to turn off the warning light. Many thanks!

I worked in an oil change place, and I was a mechanic after that before my current job. I would still change my oil every 5000 or less if I were you even using synthetic oils. You change your oil because it is getting contaminated, not because it breaks down modern synthetic oils, is able to tolerate more contamination, but your engine will still last longer, changing the oil more often.

I'm not sure how it works on the Highlander but I know on some Toyota vehicles you actually can't - it will only give you the maintenance notification when its needed

I have an 08 Highlander. I reset my trip A every oil change and use Trip B for my miles driven every fuel tank. Last I checked Toyota recommends oil changes every 5,000 miles, so if you reset your Trip A miles, you can use that to track. It also starts to warn you when you're 500 miles or less due for your next change, and once you hit that 5,000 mark, it displays oil maintenence due on the info screen on your dash along with the yellow exclamation mark on your warning lights.

Y’all I freaked out bc my car didn’t want to start after. I had to get out my vehicle and wait a few minutes. Used my key to lock and unlock my vehicle then tried to start my car again. It worked!!!
