I do drain and fills once a year since new (2015 model) and just now changed both the filters at 125k. No debris at the bottom of the pan or magnets or in filter. Frequent fluid changes are the answer for the CVT. Thanks for the informative video!

The NS3 fluid has a green dye that is a lot more visible with a UV light if it is hard to see on the stick. This also makes seeing leaks if there are any a lot easier. That green dye is not just there to make the fluid look different from the other ones. Really it is something that all ATFs and CVT fluids have. Different fluids will have different color dyes at times. Of course everyone is familiar with red fluid, it is the one most of us have seen at one point or another just because so many ATFs come as red.

Omg I would have done this sooner if I knew how easy it was! My shifting has been a little sketchy. I've been planning to take it to a shop to do it but I never have the money for it. Need to do this ASAP before I dont have a car

I think with my Rogue the tube is up a little bit higher and less angled. This makes it easy enough so the funnel is not at too awkward of an angle to add fluid through. I do remember the first time taking the plug out and it was difficult since the O-ring was probably sticking in the tube a bit. Even taking it out later is difficult but not like that first time. Really when I put it back in I don't click it. It will not come out unless there is something abnormal and it causes a lot of pressure in the transmission but that would be rare and extremely unlikely since these have vents on them (in places deep in the bay where you can't see). About dipsticks, it is hard for some of us to find one that actually seems to go deep enough to get a reading. We even use part numbers found on the Nissan or Infiniti (same parts) forums and it is hit or miss whether it really works certain people specifically. My Rogue is a 2017 Rogue Sport SV with AWD (more like FWD 95% of the time really). Of course the dipstick is not a substitute for removing the overflow plug under the vehicle within a specific temperature range. If I had one like yours with the funnel at that angle I would have gotten one of those metal funnels with the flexible neck. That tube angle and difficulty of removing the plug are both seemingly to discourage repair and maintenance. It is the same reason most other modern transmissions have no tube at all and they just call them sealed. That doesn't mean they will last longer than the ones that had tubes and dipsticks! It is more likely to make them not last as long since checking the level and condition of the fluid is now a lot harder to do since you have to get under it to do it. Sure some of this may have came about because of idiots who assume Dexron is compatible with all transmissions who should not be within 100 feet of any vehicle ever again in their life! Not all vehicles are GM just in case they forgot!!

You didn't change the 2 transmission filters..???
@jackcollin169510 күн бұрын
1st trans fluid change,its fine not to change the filter.it only recommended on the 2nd interval which is around 120k miles.by that time,you probably sold or traded the car.so no need to worry about the first filter change.

aren’t you supposed to level the fluid at the end until it drips? also you have to level the car even?

No filter change? Wonder since I own a 2020 model and I’m about to do the fluid change

You do the filter change at 100k. Just flush few times during 60k service.

Is there a benefit to just doing a seemingly more expensive flush than just changing out filter and putting in new fluid?
@JJCentral-DIYАй бұрын
The Rogue and Altima probably has the world's worst cvt transmissions. If it runs smoothly over 50k miles, I will not disturb it other than flushing fluids frequently. Dropping the pan and changing filter also involves exposing other internal components and I won't prefer that esp in this car.

This is hard to explain, but it sounds like inside the cabin of the car. It is loud to me. Would that have anything to do with the transmission knitting a flush?
@JJCentral-DIY25 күн бұрын
If it is transmission problems then your brake light will light up with transmission codes. Is your check engine light on? If so pull codes.
@karennicoli544624 күн бұрын
@ check engine light was on. I took it into the dealer and charged me $775 to fix the problem with the check engine light. There is new brake light on however the one light line light with the squiggly lines. They said I needed back brakes on it and a flush transmission flush.

The overflow plug only works if the car is raised leveled. You won't have the correct capacity with the engine tilted back because you're on ramps.

I see theres a minor leak on the underneath of the trans housing.are those normal due to wear?
@JJCentral-DIY10 күн бұрын
@@jackcollin1695 it's not normal and if you see fluid level changes in this car's cvt, then is important that you get that fixed. The pan replacement shouldn't be that hard

You underfilled. Your supposed to overfill and drain the excess fluid until it starts dripping or running thin. At 110 degrees ferenheit
@ASAN..5 ай бұрын
The best: 1_ Empty the liquid 2- Close the pot and pour 5 liters of new liquid 3- Unscrew one of the Transmission radiator hoses (the one coming out of the radiator), put it in a container, and start the car to push the new old fluid out. 4- When the fluid coming out of the hose is changed to the new one, the car is turned off, the hose is installed in its place, the oil coming out is calculated, and the fluid is increased to the required level. Finally, I am sorry, I do not speak English, and I used the translator, and I hope you got the idea correctly.
@brassmule5 ай бұрын
This is the right way to do it as well when you are swapping from the OE fluid to Amsoil CVT fluid. Use the trans pump to "flush" out the fluid. Sometimes it's best to only "push out" 1-2 liters at a time, shut the engine off, add in 1-2 more liters of new fluid, and repeat until only fresh-appearing fluid comes out.
