Thank you for taking the time to post this video. The temp gauge went to the bottom, and the AC turned off. My family and I were very uncomfortable driving her up to college. I found this video and was able to do the repair in the parking lot. I suggest a deep well 3/4 1/2 drive socket, 10” extension , and 1/2” drive wrench along with a 1/2 inch universal socket adapter to handle the odd angle. $22 duralast sensor and all tools purchased at AutoZone. I’ll return the tools as I won’t need them until the next time. 20min repair

Great video. The hardest part is definitely getting the old one disconnected, but once out it takes only a couple minutes to swap in the new one. Patience and persistence. One word of advice, go with the 1/2" drive deep socket. I originally tried 3/8" drive because all of my extension bits are 3/8, but learned it wasn't deep enough. After a trip back to the store for the 1/2 socket and an adapter I was back in business.

Thanks! I am a girl who has zero knowledge of cars and I fixed it myself after watching this video! My dad happened to have a long 19mm socket wrench and needle nose pliers to get the red tab thing undone. Thank goodness because without the right tools I wouldn't have been able to do it! This video really helped me visualize what I was doing while not being able to see 😂 My day started off with me going down to the body shop and pestering them to plug the computer into my 2014 Acadia to see the codes it was throwing.. they were so busy they were like "the computer is in that drawer.. YOU do it" (they were probably half joking, hoping I would go away 😂😂) but I figured out how to plug it in and read it. Then I told them the codes and they said they'd order the piece it needed. But I knew they wouldn't because they were super busy.. so I pestered them for the name of the part I needed and went down to the parts store and bought it myself 🤷🏼♀️ Then when I went back to the shop with the part they had all disappeared and went to lunch. Or they were hiding from me. So that's when I looked up this video. Sadly, there were only TWO 19mm socket wrench tips in the entire body shop.. one short one and one medium one. Not long enough to fit. They did have about 25 18mm and 10 21mm ones.. that was fun going thru all of them to no avail 🤦🏼♀️. But luckily my dad had a long 19mm with an adapter and everything. Yay! Got my hands a little dirty but I didn't break anything and now the temp guage is no longer at zero and my fan is no longer acting like I'm overheating 🎉 Yay! And my check engine light is off! 😄

Very helpful! I was wondering what socket, specifically, do I need to pull old sensor out? None of my sockets are quite deep enough to allow me to start removing sensor. Thanks!
@jrvideos57623 жыл бұрын
I would buy the new sensor and take it to Home Depot/Lowe’s or auto store and buy a single deep socket that fits. Some of the newer deep wall sockets are not long/wide enough to fit over the plastic part of the sensor. Buying one should only be a few bucks. Good luck!

Do you think it’s necessary to change the connector also or is the sensor itself normally the problem?

The sensor is almost always the problem. The connector harness is pretty robust and don’t fail often.

Is it the sensor if the temperature gauge continues to climb up to 260?
@jrvideos5762 Жыл бұрын
Hard to say… The most common reasons a GMC Acadia is overheating are a coolant leak (water pump, radiator, hose etc.), the radiator fan, or a failed thermostat
@6Jenne6La6Flaca613 күн бұрын
@@jrvideos5762 yeah, mine was the coolant pump motor 2x and the thermostat 1x. This time it was the sensor but it wasn't overheating, the temp was reading 0 randomly.
