The first diesel cars available here in the US were slow and stinky. Now they are fast and expensive. I guess we missed the middle ground lol.

@@DankcatvacsIronically they did and that's why nobody wanted diesels in the U.S. GM did such a terrible job with their diesel cars and trucks that people were swapping them to gasoline engines regularly from how frequently they died.

These wagons are like unicorns in the state...hell the other day I saw a late model JAGUAR wagon and was totally shocked, I didn't even know they made one! These Bimmers are super rare as well, especially with a DIESEL, as Americans gave up wagons decades ago because they were seen as "un cool" and diesels never caught on in passenger cars after GM's horrible and unreliable early 80's V8 diesel that was used in sedans (saloons) and wagons (estates)

The Chevy Cruze diesel engine was actually made in Germany, too. It was an Opel engine, back when GM still owned Opel.

Such a shape the rest of the car is so shitty
@9ZERO67 ай бұрын
@@tt-nm4yj the #1 problem with the gas powered Cruze was it's engine. Coolant leaks from every orifice, and turbo's failing etc. The rest of the car was fairly reliable.

They also put that engine in the Equinox and the GMC Terrain for a few years.

I own the 2014 328d wagon xdrive. Super fun, fast, sporty, simple and great miles average 40 per gallon. Seats are nice except for longer road trips. Higher cost matainance and parts. I absolutely love this car.

Well, Zack, that wagon/estate lacks one important thing for any true driver - manual gearbox.

Any true driver can can appreciate a transmission that puts power down better than a manual

If this is the ZF 8-speed then it is still a great transmission. Especially considering that these didn't come with a manual option.

@@xFactoryUSA What is a "true driver"? What's the purity test? Top speed isn't everything, sometimes you want the engagement of rowing your own gears. I don't care if the automatic may be three tenths of a second around a track, I'd rather have a manual.

@@bwofficial1776 I’m talking about getting smoked off the line, and particularly if your city has extremely wide streets with 55mph on suburb side streets. But then again if you have access to windy roads then that’s another sub set of needs. Daily to work, maybe not so much rowing everyday

I own this exact car and it’s the best car I’ve ever owned. 2014 328d Wagon with the Luxury package (20 spoke wheels, rear windows sunshade, heated rear seats etc). “Dad strength” hits the nail on the head lol. With only 180hp and 280 ft-lbs you wouldn’t think the thing would move, but it easily can get to 60 in 7 seconds and it cruises like a car that was made to tackle the Autobahn. They’re also bulletproof. I know people want the N57 I-6, but trust me. The N47 is a better motor. You can also make about 250hp and 400ft-lb with a simple computer tune. I just did a quick autotempest search. There are about 47 328d up for sale right now, only 9 of which are wagons. Get them while you can folks!

It's a shame BMW's wagons never caught on in the US. Wagons are practical and drive nice. It's also a shame BMWs aren't known for reliability, besides the iDrive this one's suspension looks like it needs to be fixed. Diesel cars could be good if diesel wasn't $1 more per gallon and didn't require DPF, taking away all the fuel economy savings.

Zack, You may be too young to remember the halcyon days before DIESELGATE when grown men would have a tear in their eye dreaming about those unobtainable, 'clean', European Diesels which could miraculously achieve 50 mpg and 150 mph. Too bad the 'nerds' at West Virginia University left the lab, took some Diesels on a road trip and busted the biggest automotive myth of the early 21st century. For the record, the best station wagon ever is the 1968-1972 Oldsmobile Vista Cruiser with a Rocket V8 and TH 400 transmission with honorable mentions going to the Mercury Colony Park, Volvo 245 as well as most RWD Toyota wagons with inline 6s bolted to manual gearboxes. With an open mind, I am willing to entertain the possibility the upcoming Crown Signia may some day enter the pantheon of wonderful wagons.🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩

40k 2018 328d xdrive I got the dreaded P02D3 check engine light on my drive home today. Basically injector 4 is either shitting the bed or I should disconnect the battery and see if I can clear the code manually. My OBD2 reader would not clear it, and I don’t have many other options other than taking it into the dealership. This is my second 328d and the first problem I have encountered with this engine. Does anyone have any advice on what I could do before I take it to the Stealership?
