2014 Chevy SS - Supercharging the SS Pt 6 - Engine Teardown/Blower Install

In this video - I begin the tear down/install of the supercharger itself.
I removed the factory LS3 intake, LS3 fuel rail/injectors - and TB.
Then I started with the lower blower housing - installed the bolts and torqued to spec.
Then I installed the ZL1 lid/intercooler housing - and torqued to spec.
I finished off the day by installing the fuel injectors, fuel rail, brake booster vacuum hose, TB, and the fuel evap purge solenoid.

I was going to purchase the TVS2300 once my warranty runs out, and a Lunati Drop in cam, made I'll go the LSA route, since I won't be racing, just driving on the weekends I'm home.

With the cam you are going to want to run aftermarket springs, and make sure you get pushrods as well. You can't go wrong with either choice - I got $3200 in my LSA - with lots of parts shopping around. The TVS is a simple bolt on kit with everything needed - but that comes at a price.

We're on the same page, plus roller rockers, with the springs and rods, maybe some short tube headers.

Awesome job on your car . I have the same car 2014 chevy SS and I want the same thing done to my car . Again awesome job on your car . If i have problems with installing , I'll Send my car to you , lol

I wouldn't bother with the LSA cam you aren't going to see much of a performance boost with it. I stuck with the stock LS3 cam. If you are going to put in a new cam - go with something aftermarket like BTR.

You need to change the harmonic Balancer to suit the ZL1 or maybe even a LSa balancer and use a ARP Balancer bolt, due to the ease of torquing the bolt compared to the factory bolt.:) Main reason is the belt is a 8PK and not a 6PK ribbed blet ,cheers :) also i think you can use a LSA belt tensioner set up. :) which also means you have to change the alternator pulled to suit the 8PK i believe and do not use under or oversized Harmonic Balancer due to the extreme spin rate changes and stuff up the A/c and also alternator, you can buy various size pulley to suit over or underdrive balancers but again its up to you, but again its the A/C which will suffer the most they are not made to handle a supercharged engine belt as well and the compressor is made for the stock engine revs and speed of the clutch will work on a stock engine, but as soon as you start to change things its will come to problems 100% sure it will, unless you do real good research on all the belts and pulleys to suit a LS3 ss engine and what is required to be changed when its got a GM supercharger? Lingerfinger Racing or callaway is the best bet for information?

Callaway is garbage - I would never buy a package from them. $30,000 USD for a blower, a set of mufflers and some floor mats? No thank you. As for the harmonic balancer - yes I used the Camaro ZL1 3 belt harmonic balancer and an ARP bolt.

What kind of harness (CPU) did you use? I understand you can't use the existing LS3 or L99 harness for an LSA supercharged? Thanks!

I used the stock GM harness - just bought the necessary adapter harnesses that I needed for the TB, map, and MAF sensors.

.I'm doing this on a ls3 camaro will I have to buy a evap purge solenoid or can I use stock ls3 with zl1 tube?

It the Camaro LS3 evap purge is the same as the SS evap purge (which it probably is) - then the LS3 solenoid will not work on LSA. I got the LSA one and it worked fine.

Hey I’m looking into buying an SS. How much boost can they handle stock and what would you recommend I upgrade first either before and/or after boosting? I’m looking to push 10-15lbs of boost for now

Stock pulley on the LSA is like 9 psi - been no issue. 17 psi on my Vette no issues there either.

Did you end up getting the CTSV evap hose or the ZL1?

That was almost 6 years ago - I'm pretty sure I went with the V hose.

Depends on your goals and budget man - just adding the blower and a set of headers and I am pretty happy. Add a cam, valve springs, push rods, gaskets - that stuff gets expensive quick. I would NOT recommend getting the LS9 cam - I have one in my supercharged Vette and I am HIGHLY disappointed!

Yes - I swapped to LSA/LS9 valve covers.

With any of you folks working with your experimental ideas of putting a supercharger blower of regardless of what brand that will fit the intake mounted, on your v8, can this idea be done with a side mounted v6 front wheel drive, because a lot of these ideas are being done with aftermarket parts, now for the big question, can ANY MOTOR BE SUPERCHARGERED, turbocharged or supercharged blower ,Cadillac n general motors has a new twin turbo system for both v6,v8,,,,I think, somewhere in the engineering department they figured out how to shorten down the airflow system between the turbo and the intake, reducing the delayed lag time that takes away from the instant response of turbo principle, can a side mounted v6 be done this way,

Anything can be done with the right amount of $$$ - as for V6 FWD - don't bother. I had plenty of Beretta, Cavalier, Grand Am, Grand Prix - and those platforms are just a big money drain when it comes down to $/hp. Your going to spend twice the money on a V6 FWD car - then an inline 6, V8, v10 etc RWD car.

Which harness are you talking about? There is the IAT harness, electric pump harness, TB harness.

Is there any special reason you chose the LSA instead of a Whipple or Magnuson Heartbeat 2300?

Hello Dennis - simply costs $$ was my motivating factor. I picked up the blower just over 2 years ago for $500 - and that allowed me to pick up the rest of parts over time and not drop a to of cash all at once. I have a TVS2300 on my C6 - and if you look at it what it costs $/HP - the LSA is a better bang for the buck. Plus if I ever have an issue - I should be able to pick up replacement parts from any Chevy dealer. No custom one off pieces here.
