It's been over five years since this event took place. Can we have another one? It's a refreshing change from watching 9 ball / 10 ball matches all the time

I for one like listening to the commentators. For me as a hobby player it helps me read the table. The little stories they tell makes it clear that even though they're commentating at a prestigious game, they come from the same background that we all do, playing in bars against whoever happens to be there, often playing for money. It makes the sport feel welcoming, not stuck-up filled with pageantry.

Relax everyone - the commentators are fine; I really don't understand the hate.. First of all, this isn't broadcast television, it's an internet stream and therefore probably not much of a budget either... Just be glad you have a decent quality internet video of top pros playing to watch at all!

Jason K. Commentators are always fine. It’s the chewing and lip smacking sounds that make it unbearable. Seems like the norm in pool videos in recent years. A shame I always end up muting them, would love to hear the back and forth.

You can definitely tell that KO is much more familiar with rotation games. Amazingly he has a monster break, but his choices to move the cue ball around as much as he does shows me he doesn't play as much 8 ball. Shane's break really let him down in this match. It's hard enough against the worlds best to overcome 1 dry break in an alternate break match. Also I think those that are complaining about the commentators are a bit over the top. I think having guys with different thoughts are great in the booth. They might give you a different perspective or idea that you wouldn't have thought of.

D Fend it’s great having commentary but it’s really annoying when they sound like they are chewing gum. Seems very common in pool vids now a days. I’m sure the better quality of the mics are partly to blame but I’m sure there is something they could do about it. I end up having to mute almost every single pool match and it’s a shame.

+Justin Loke Every single set of eight-ball rules by every association specifies that a stripe and a solid should be on the corners. For instance, you can read the rules by CSI (the association running this particular tournament) here: www.playcsipool.com/uploads/7/3/5/9/7359673/2014-2015_official_rules_of_csi.pdf You'll find the relevant rule on p.42.

The only pool association that doesn't specify a stripe and solid on the corners is APA. But, I mean, it's designed for casual amateur players. You can hardly put APA in the same category as CSI.
@666bishopTPRpro
@666bishopTPRpro 7 жыл бұрын
It is great you mentioned this. I recently joined an APA team and was criticized for racking in the traditional style (solids on one corner and striped on the other). They told me to rack it in "striped - solid -striped solid" and vice versa, around the edged of the rack. I still disagree with their racking rules, but like any billiards environment and setting, there are always some kind of "house rules" which everyone seems to have followed for years, which make competition either unique or easier in some way or another. In my case, it is the only thing I can disagree with about their rules.

I wish those videos had no commentators at all. I don't need anyone to form an opinion for me. I don't get sports television, it just makes no sense. I don't care if he's chewing something or if he's just that old, I don't need to listen to anyone when I'm watching a pool game. And no, I don't want to mute it, because I want to make it authentic by being able to listen to the balls hitting each other and the audience cheering.
