2014 Ford F150 Tow Hitch Replacement - pt. 1

The tow hitch assembly on my 2014 F150 has rusted and is making it difficult to insert and remove a ball - to remedy this, we'll be discussing how the assembly is built, its features, and will continue with a series of videos to cover the replacement of the assembly.

I am trying to get the hitch out of the receiver. It is so rusty that I can't even remove the hitch pin with a sledge.

How do you get the clip off the plug

Using a flat-head screwdriver, depress the bottom clip in the center, nearest the metal bracket it hooks on to. Do the same for the top clip. While they are depressed, you’ll want to wiggle and push on the plug (pushing towards the rear of the truck) until it pops loose.
