Gloomy indeed, usually the postings of the SAJB and its offshoots are numbers that get the feet a tappin' , make you smile. More or less all the stuff you'd imagine kids would play and would be attracted to. And since most of us ' responsible' adults still have a bluebird in our heart that we let out sometimes and then put back, still singing a little because we won' t quite let it die. We have this secret pact with the SAJB to let it out when Joan posts something new. And I' m all the happier for it. But THIS ... THIS !, it is obviously a matter of personal taste and I don' t expect this to get millions of views and lots of comments. But I love it, this is also very much a part of the Jazz universe, though utterly unexpected from someone this young who in many other songs happily hops around like a little spitfire full of life and joy. But she pulls this off, not from a technical point of view because I' ve come to expect that from all Joans' pupils, but she does it on an emotional level. This is not a creditable performance... it's a credible one... The tears in my eyes tell me so, this is nice enough to make a man weep. I'm inclined to start calling her "La Payes" from now on.

Bravo Rita! Bravo Toni Belenguer! A precious piece of Jazz from 2014! (around Rita's 15th birthday I read elsewhere)

After listening to this amazing song, my dad and I went on a long search for more info about this unique song....the history is amazing!

Even more than the first version of this, I think we can see the idea forming in Rita's head that the trombone can be a voice as articulate as her own. After the lovely traditional razzing sounds she delivered earlier for "Moanin'", she sees Toni's finesse and complexity of expression in his solo. Our real heroes are the ones whose thinking and values we weave into our own lives.

Dude, I thought the same thing and posted as much. Found out that Andrea, Joan, Ignazi, Josep and Ignazi (not in order of importance) joined Orquestra Simfònica dèl Vallès in a concert. Some of the tunes are posted as videos. Ipanema isn't (I think), but you can find audio of it. It's pretty cool.

This song was banned in some European countries in the late 1920’s and 30’s. It was claimed that it was the cause of a wave of suicides. Rita does her best Lady Day. What a talent! And what a great band!

Rita goes the deepest of any SAJB alumni. Later she would do "Strange Fruit" with Marti Sera. Astonishing, languid horror. An artist capable of total commitment.

Right. This song has a tragic history ... and Rita's voice and phrasing makes it all the more poignant. But what an incredible group of musicians!
