I see alot of comments where you guys get mad at this bike... I actually see this as good one, it can corner a lot better than a bigger Harley and in traffic ... well there should be no comparison. It just needs a better exhaust system....

I agree with everyone complaining about the sound. It does sound like an air compressor indeed. But I can't agree with the moaning about the price. It's a good price! I mean, what else can you get outside of harley's line-up? Not much. Iron 883 owners always say to me that they are totally happy with the price of the bike, because it allows people to get into HD family for cheap, and allows them to experience a big bore cruiser, which is a very different category of bikes from what most people start on. And to the guy who said it should cost ~$5500: Don't be ridiculous. That's how much learner bikes (Ninja 300 etc.) and SMs cost. You can't expect HD to put a bike in that category. Their cheaper/entry bikes feel relatively flimsy as it is...

Honda 500cc learners are pretty solid and at $5500. But I understand these two markets don't really overlap. weight is a bit much for starter bikes, imho.

Pretty much everything sounds like an air compressor with stock mufflers. You gotta remove some baffles or get aftermarket pipes - same with almost every bike.

Between this and the Livewire electric, I really like where Harley is going with it's new bikes. The V-Rod was a showy flop. These two new bikes are practical and appealing to a new generation of riders - that's exactly what Harley needs.

My V Rod is the same as far as the clutch lever releasing at extended finger position, but I wonder if it's like that on purpose. This makes easier for quick take off/launch time; it allows a quicker take off from stop position. I like this

Whoa liquid cooling?!?!? A v-twin pumping out a MASSIVE 52 horsepower?!?! NVH that isn't on the level of agricultural equipment?!?! Let's get a round of applause for Harley Davidson for bringing the technological advancement of their bikes from the 1970's allllllll the way up to a 1990's level!

Sport bike or not dumbass, 1950's technology is 1950's technology no matter how you slice it, dumbass. Regardless if you're cruising the slab or carving canyons, both are more comfortable, reliable, and safe when the machine you're using isn't using same level of technology as in a riding lawn mower, dumbass. Dumbass.

Hey man don't get your panties in a bunch there...I myself love Harleys. I just found it hilarious that it's found to be 'revolutionary' and big news that a motorcycle company has finally discovered how to implement water cooled engines in their main bread+butter bikes they sell...in 2016. Kind of sad. I've ridden several Sportsters and love them for what they are. So calm down. My hipster ass does like Harleys.

Quite clearly aimed at women this bike. If you come from sport bikes 52hp from 750cc seems low, but its pretty good compared to other entry level 750 twin cruisers, and that flat torque curve is probably pretty nice for in town riding, at least HD is making something affordable for people who want that brand

everybody getting all bent out of shape over this bike, cut HD some slack boys.. its just the first edition.. they talk like other versions of this are coming out soon. I keep seeing a café racer XR750 style bike that looks sweet as hell...and just by looking at it, there is a lot of custom potential at the factory and garage level.. I bet with that liquid cooling, you could mod that motor to put out 100hp.. I bet in a few year you are going to see some real screamers built off that platform..

@Gloomshadow100
@Gloomshadow100 10 жыл бұрын
deepwoodskentuckian the HD 750 probably packs a lot more torque though.. either way. I bet all it takes in a K&N filter, nice exhaust and some ECM re-mapping to wake this bike up a bit.. it is what it is, its a simple, though "street blaster". lets not try to see it for what it isn't.
@Gloomshadow100
@Gloomshadow100 10 жыл бұрын
deepwoodskentuckian yeah its got potential.. V-twins usually have heavier pistons, rods and cranks then parallel twins (but that is a gross generalization), once that rotating mass is rolling, it wants to keep rolling due to the inertia.. that translates to bigger torque numbers.. torque matters more than high horsepower numbers on the street, (but that is a gross generalization also)..

okay whats your opinion on this? im about to get my license and everything never ridden a bike before been on the back seat though, and im planning on getting this bike as my first. it seems to be good for my city cuz of pot holes and heavy traffic and stuff. i also like cruisers so. i have seen this in person and it looks more appealing in person than on video or pictures tbh. i have only one question i will be pretty much learning to ride on this bike is that a good choice? cuz ofc i will move on to bigger bikes and probably try to modify this as i wanna try customising it after seeing the concepts but that is all gonna be in the future after i learn how i like my bike to be. so yeah for people like me i feel this is good and harley was aiming it at people getting into motorcycles. ive liked harley ever since i passed by a showroom in the US when i was a lil' kid huehuehue! need advice here guys

This bike is made for shorter riders. I am 5 foot 7 and it fits me perfect. I own the 2018 model and emediately put on some short shot pipes which deletes the cat and upgraded the air filter. After remapping the the engine to accept the mods this thing runs like a beast and sounds like the classic harley ww all know.

As these bikes are assembled in India for the asian market...the parts are imported, which makes these bikes really expensive...much much more than what they are in the US market. For example an iron883 in India would cost anywhere near INR: 8,00,000+ ...which is USD 14,900. At that money u can get a Harley Breakout in US nd still have about a 1000 dollars left in your pocket. So expensive...but we still are buying them in decent numbers.

sup bro, i bought the bike for $16,000 over in the walmart and the dude said i was getting a bargain!! mine goes 65mph tops and gets about 32-35 MPG its sweet!! The only problem is that It needs a steering stabilizer if you plan to go over 30+ MPH and it wobbles really bad and has super distracting vibrations. I do have to replace the clutch already...and it had a bad carb when I bought it so I already spent $$ more on it but yeah if you want something thats going to be apart of your life then yes bye it! GREAT DEAL 10/10 5 STARS

It's being classified as an entry level bike or an affordable HD, I see it as a potential drifting/wheelie machine, seriously it looks like it would stand up with a little clutch action but I wouldn't dare be seen on one with my knees sticking up that high over the tank, that kills it for me.

The bike looks OK and for very beginning riders or those who are smaller in statue this might appeal more. Price for a this bike vs 883 is just stupid. You can get a 883 iron for about $500 more than the $7499 they are expecting to retail for. Had this been a $5499 maybe worth it at that price. Also agree the engine note isn't what I expect from a Harley. While not unpleasant it does sound more Honda/Suzuki in my opinion.

What I actually like about this bike is it doesnt look or sound like a Harley. I have never owned a street bike so I am not experienced in the field as you guys are. I can say that this will probably be my first street bike. I like the Vrod but I am too short to ride it. I like the softail slim for a more Harley look but there is something about this bike that is appealing. Sort of Buellish.

Looks nice, sounds odd and the 1980 CB650 I sold for less then a grand has more hp and only one ft lbs torque less. It's air cooled and loves to rev and does so well, I think it even sounds better the this new Harley. I'd put money on the 30 yr old standard CB in a straight line and twisties any day. The CB550 version has the same hp as this 750, but it is out torqued by a little bit. I'd rather has a 883 sportster then the 750, sounds better and looks better and is faster.

Well I was originally looking at buying a Yamaha 650 custom as my beginner bike next summer. However after looking at this I may settle for the HD street 500 instead. I like the look & design of the bike. My only concern is the reviewer stating the cramped/compact sitting. I'm 6' 6" heh. Not a fan of the exhaust note though. Sounds like a scooter.

Aprilia 750 shiver / Dorsoduro is also a liquid V twin, so much more exciting though, especially the supermotard dorsoduro. People should care less about how they look on their bikes. If you ride a Litre bike or a 600 correctly, people won't see how cool you look, just a blur of color with Doppler effect of the exhaust trailing off

Really looking forward to this bike, I really like the direction they're going with trying to target that younger urban market as it's an area HD is known to be shitty at it and they're addressing it with what on paper is a very good bike. Given the power to weight this is probably as fast as the 883, and they made that front tire thin to make it nimble in an urban setting. Given the price point it's hard to argue with. Really hope this bike does well. Unfortunately (?) I just pulled the trigger and bought my sportster, so I won't be buying this, though I was and am very interested in it. Really hope HD nails that market they're aiming for. I think it'll be some good competition for the bonnie.

I think it's about time Harley came out with a water cooled motor, it looks rather versatile to me, I'd say like anyother Harley one could add and subtract whatever you wanted. Bags,bars, seat, pipe, jets, etc. Bikes are a freedom of expression you build them the way you want if you don't want a smaller bar hopping, low HP cruiser with a bullet fairing, buy something else...I've had alot of bikes as an entry level Harley I would have love to have had this bike years ago instead of overheating on my sportsters

I'm from Australia, and you need an open licence to ride any model of Harley! The 500 street will change that as Harley has no LAMS bikes ready where other brands do! LAMS are for new Licensed riders on power to weight ratio bikes. If the street was available 3 years ago and I'd known about it, I'd buy it straight away!

52.9 bhp on the dyno.. or probably around ~58hp on the crank.. is not surprising since this 750cc twin engine has a larger bore than square (1.28 ratio). It is higher rewing than a typical Harley engine and makes more power pr cubic inch.. But a more square engine 1:1 tends to have better fuel economy.. (Honda NC750 and Honda CBR500).. The NC750 is half of a car engine.. makes 54hp on the crank and have 6500 rpm redline.. Pulls from every gear.. and has fantastic fuel economy..

Can't see it replacing the Ducati Monster 696 as the best newbies bike. The 696 has the better engine, handling and brakes. A more all round package and good enough to inspire confidence in new riders. Then there's always the Triumph Street Triple or the Aprilia Shiver.

HD has been under the EPA gun for years to develop a quiet (mechanically speaking) engine. This is not an easy feat with an air cooled engine which fails to provide the sound insulating qualities of a water jacket sheathed engine. They introduced the V-ROD, anticipating wide spread acceptance of the new engine which would eventually make it's way into every HD model. We all know how that story went. This appears to be another chapter out of that same book. I was a die-hard HD rider for years, but just not feeling their current direction.

Nice HP for the size of motor. Torque is a little low. Probably have a hard time at highway speeds like some sportsters do. Especially driving into the wind. My pops had a sportster for a while and it struggled badly with wind at high speeds. My v-star 950 has less horsepower but more torque and does quite well on the highway into the wind though. Big problem with the smaller engine bikes and Harley sportsters is they aren't great highway bikes at all. When you go test drive a bike, pick a windy day and hit the highway.

I wonder if Harley thinks the riders of this bike will move to another Harley for there next bike? Every other bike they make is a cruiser! They stopped making the Streetrod in 07, one of the best sport roadsters ever, and would have been an obvious move up from the 750. Are you listening Harley? I love my 07 Streetrod, but Harley makes nothing I am interested in. BMW K1300S is my next bike! If I were in the market for a smaller easy to handle bike, I would pay the extra $$ and get a BMW R NineT, way cool little bike in my opinion.

It sounds like the reviewer is working really hard to find something positive to say about it. At several points he is like "ahhhhh...the bike is blah blah blah.." as if he is working to say something that won't upset HD. Don't get me wrong, over 25 years I have owned and ridden Harleys, loving them for what they are. This bike doesn't cut it for me at any price. Young guys looking to buy a new 750 will be looking for a bit more than 50 odd HP from a supposedly modern design. Sorry guys (HD) but it's thumbs down from me this time.

With 53 hp 39 torque why even make the 883 anymore that had 53 hp 49 torque. The street is lighter so it's faster and higher rpm range cost a little more than a 883 low oh well the people didn't like the V-Rod when it first came out but people got used to it. When they got rid of Buell Erik made an awesome bike after he was gone like the 1190RS and RX so I'm more into EBR than Harley Davidson now and save up for the new RX :-)

I don't understand why HD seems to refuse to make a bike that corners. I really like the idea of an HD 750 but why not make it in a couple of different versions like every other motorcycle company does? A little more ground clearance and a decreased obession with creating bikes for short people would be welcome. This is a bike to drive in straight lines on city surface streets -- get a scooter.

I agree with the concept to have a cheaper entry level bike's family for HD, but the fuel economy??? On the Italian site specifications are on line for the 750 model, 6 speed will help, but HD declare 5,74 lt for 100 km, that's higher than the 5,7 lt declared for the 110 CVO engine, higher than any V-Twin model. The difference in price with an Iron 883 is only 1400 euros, and an Iron has more torque and more power, better brakes and it's more "ture HD style", with a 4.6 lt declared for 100 km. Doing the math with a presumed cost of 1,7 euros for gasoline litre, it means 1,972 euros more for every 100 km. The difference in price vill be covered in 71.000 km. I don't know the diffierence in prices for maintenece and assurance, and the km lifetime for this engine, but it seems to me this bike can be not so cheaper as one may hope. A good 2nd hand sposter have the same price, if not even lower, and will be cheaper to mantain.

I like the idea of this bike, and like the way it looks mostly. However, for around $7500, this bike is overpriced in terms of performance. Bonneville is a good example, and you can even get a Yamaha Fz09 with 100+hp for around same price. They really should bring back the XR1200, and drop the price.. that was a great bike.

I own one.My recommendation to any one planning to buy one:Stay away from Harley.Not worth time or money. Delivery : 2 months delayed than promised time Braking:Non Existent.I had an accident because of bad braking. Road side assistance:Extremely bad.Came to pick up vehicle after 24 hours. Service: 1.5 months service time since they have to import parts.

Arunraj R As long as this bike passes whatever government breaking regulations there are, then any accident attributed to "bad breaking" is more than likely operator error. Get my meaning?

My 650 parallel twin Kawasaki makes considerably more horsepower, the bike weighs considerably less, and the price of a new one is very similar to this new Harley. The stock exhaust also sounds like poo, but I'm sure the aftermarket will offer a fix for that soon.

Ducati's 696 is more than 50 cc less and makes 80 hp. 50.6 torque. And don't come around with the whole "the Harley engine is tuned for low end" crap. That doesn't account for 30 hp and 11 lb difference.

Wow - what a lot of pissing and moaning. People have been telling Harley for decades that they need to make some changes to their line-up. They bring out something completely new, a liquid-cooled bike for a decent price that will get more newbies riding - but then some people still whine.

A 750 will perform 90% of biking needs. I ran a Norton 750 in Calif...outran all...at the time. 115 mph...terrific cornering. Looks like this bike is a winner.

I've been a long-time loyal Harley-Davidson enthusiast for over 20 years now and Although I think this bike is ugly as all hell, I applaud Harley for stepping out of the box and building something smaller and lighter to help draw in the younger generation of riders to look at Harley in a whole new light and going in a new direction! Although I love Harleys, I also have a fondness for Cafe Racers and the whole "Streetfighter" style of bikes! I definitely can see the potential of this bike if you buy one and strip off all the ugly plastic shit and begin to customize it to fit your own personal style, I myself would love to get my hands on one and strip it down to build a modern version of a Cafe Racer! It appears to me that these bikes use basically a de-tuned version of a V-Rod's Revolution engine and shoehorned it into basically a Sportster sized frame package! Being it's watercooled will allow it to rev. higher than most air-cooled Harleys and stay cooler if caught in heavy traffic jams, etc. and I'm sure we'll start seeing performance upgrades soon like bigger bores, cylinder heads, cams, etc. not to mention I'm sure companies like Trask Turbo will offer a turbocharger/intercooler kit for these bikes soon if they are not already in the works!

Pretty weak for a 750 twin. The Aprilia shiver makes 95 hp from a 750 twin. That's almost twice as much from what should be a similar performing engine.

dont be so hard in this "little"(for the EEUU mind) model. Its the cheapest version since the rest of the world dont get 500cc you get there, it costs a little bit less than the shadow 750 and a little bit more than a susui s40. So, yeah we all know japanese bikes are way more reliable BUT the harley is traying to get a new market with this one. At the end of the day we all know how cool HD is, thats more than enough to go for it if you dont want to spend that much money. A duke 390 makes like 43 hp so yeah, te harley isnt the fastest (cheapo) out there but the KTM is build in thailand, or india (some crap like that) and it costs almost the same so, harley wins in my eyes. Remember people that EEUU is not the whole world, normal people dont need a 1700cc for comuting...
