I bought this bike a month ago and have loved every second on it. Heading up the mountains shows what fun this bike can be. I am shorter, 5'7 and have a hard time finding a bike to fit my legs. This bike is a lot of fun.

I have one of these, and having owned nearly 20 bikes in my lifetime this is #1. Its so comfortable, its like riding a couch. The power is acceptable, but the low end torque is where this bike really sines. You can get up and go from a stand still and clear an intersection in the blink of an eye. I like to know the power is there if I need it when I'm city riding. Don't let the weight fool you, I swear this bike handles just as well as my old 1983 Yamaha Maxim 650 I use to own (453lbs). I swear you can toss this 745lb monster around like a dirt bike. Best bike I've ever owned, hand down. I'll be keeping it for years to come.

You must be a Honda spokesman. The CTX is hardly a great bike as I own one too. Have owned many Hondas which I would any day take over the CTX. You must live where the roads are perfectly smooth to say it's like riding on a couch. without a doubt one of the worse bikes I ever owned.

I've been a Harley owner for the past twenty years; own two currently (Wide Glide & Street Glide). Bought one of these last month; in the spring my Harleys will both be sold. This CTX1300 does everything my wife & I want; in a more relaxed, refined manner. It needs cruise control (McCruise makes a good one), the taller windscreen, and highway pegs and it's ready to hit the road. Lighter, lower, smaller than an F6B. Excellent bike.

I wished that Honda had stepped down 100cc's and used the VFR1200 engine so that it could've been DCT like the 700 model and it also might have done better in sales.

It should have been pushed to 1500 and this is the best form factor for shaft drive. No power loss of right angle drive like my Honda1800VTwin Neo. Granted torque rips your elbows off.

I had one of these and flogged it all around the midwest. I got a job at a company that happens to make motorcycles, so I had to sell it. I still miss it. The V4 is the best motor a motorcycle can be built with. I loved that bike. If it had electronic cruise control, it would be the perfect machine.

When discussing the sound system you can see that the bike is equipped with a taller windshield. It would have been nice to have more footage of bikes equipped with this option. If I were buying this bike there is no doubt I would want a taller screen. I would also want highway pegs. Does anyone make a set for this bike ?

An overhead cam V4, and a 7000 RPM redline? It's insane. Honda is insane. How about 9000 RPM and 120HP, or more? Stiffen up the suspension, it would have been a beast. Honda is nuts. Making the machine it knows we need. Approved by mom.

I had a '14 CTX 700, and I test rode one of these CTX 1300's used recently. I was looking for something better performing than the 700, but this just wasn't that bike and I couldn't bring myself to buying it. The model is an orphan, and I see why it never sold well. When comparing it to bikes like the FJR1300 and Concours 14, it's not hard to see why this bike was a dud and was available as a new model year "leftover" for a long time. Just comes down to there being better bikes out there in this size/displacement class for the buck.

The liquid-cooled V4 is intriguing, as is the fairing with the shorty screen and integrated bags, but no cruise control, no gear indicator, no sixth gear? Exactly what does the upsell model get me?
@renegadebiker24
@renegadebiker24 9 жыл бұрын
Nomad Ryder Cruise control is not standard on this bike, and neither is a gear indicator, but why would you need that if you know how to ride a motorcycle??? The sixth gear is for, in my opinion, long hauls, but then again, as an owner of this bike, why would I need it, when it has ABS, Traction Control, which are both important, and bluetooth capability which will work well with upcoming helmets as well as the latest smartphones, The upsell model, I think, gets you a better bike for your money, instead of having to add it in at a later date and pay extra for it, plus it is an all LED bike, which makes it brighter when riding at night as you will see from some of my videos on my channel that will show that.

Honda designed the bike well but forgot the mirrors!. I had to lower the bars to keep the brake cylniders from hogging the view in the small mirrors. They should have set them up higher. Anyone else?
@renegadebiker24
@renegadebiker24 8 жыл бұрын
+Patrick Logsdon I did a video about the mirrors, and how I had tried to adjust to the way the mirrors are placed. I have yet to lower the bars on mine. I was told by a few people that I would have to get a short riser and pit it on. It is on my channel under the playlist "My Motorcycle Related Reviews" and the video is called "Arm Positioning when riding a CTX 1300" , and in my playlist called "Motorcycle Vlog" with the title "Trip around Springdale part 1" and "Trip around Springdale part 2" where I discuss on how I wanted to lower the bars on my motorcycle, but I did not do it, so I ended up trying to position my arms when I ride. I think that they should have done that by making it higher, but I am wondering if it would have taken away from the overall design of the bike.

It is odd first its called the CTX but really has nothing, nada, Zip in common with the 700 and the sad part is they didn't try and bridge off of their 700 market, so you develop a Market against the grain with the built in storage and the Automatic (Wonderful) by the way, and then you crush it by not offering anything higher in that style of Bike? Did Honda just get up one day and say hey look we have these extra CTX insignia's, now I know that this new 1300 Sherman has nothing in common with the early CTX line but did I mention we have these extra insignia's after all it's not like it's a car, it's just a Bike.

gyice It is the 700's bigger brother, and it is a great bike. Granted, it is not automatic, but I have yet to see a CTX 1300 that has an automatic transmission. I ride it whenever I can, and you can see it on my channel. The CTX 1300 is a bigger biker than the 700, yet has a little more power than the 700. The CTX 1300 is the next generation in their motorcycles, and from personal experience, I have to tell you, for a bike that has ABS and Traction Control as well as bluetooth capability, it is great.

I wound up buying one . I chose it over a Guzzi 1400 California. I really like it. It isn't a perfect bike but what it is is a mile munching bike that seems like a spawn of a Guzzi that got gang raped by an Acura. Super refined , comfy seat and it handles well for a cruiser. I call it a Goldwing Jr. After a bit of accessories like a tall wind screen, the luggage box, fog lights and heated grips you're ready for the IronButt. Big drawback is the overly soft suspension and the lack of aftermarket. All in all a great touring bike.

My biggest issue with the CTX is accessing the battery and fuse box. It's a puzzle of flimsy tabs and just a pain. @@DG-ie5ip Perhaps that’s true, most decision are made with the almighty dollar front and centre. But sometimes to make money you have to spend money. Most dealerships I visit these days their focus is on adventure style riding or dirt bikes. Some bikes have been cannibalized into sport touring monstrosity’s but none have the je ne sais quoi as the actual designed touring or sports touring machines of the past. Maybe I’m to old for these new styles and set in my ways to much. But these earlier touring and sports touring machine had an air and grace about them that’s missing in today’s line ups except for the Goldwing and some BMW’s.

I love the look of the bike... except the front end. Shame, kind of a cool setup, but just looks ugly to me.

A modern liquid cooled 1300cc V4 that makes only 83 hp? The KTM 1290 twin makes that much on one cylinder! Of course in 2 years they'll bump it up, then again 3 years after that. Eventually it will have the missing power 'restored', and a lot of unhappy first year buyers.
@Mrslowmo212
@Mrslowmo212 9 жыл бұрын
Dude that's a completely unrelated comparison! Your bike, which is an KTM 1290, is a performance bike or a streetfighter so to say like the Kawasaki Z1000 or Ducati Streetfighter 848. The Honda CTX1300 like the Goldwing, is design for long distance cruising and comfort, not speed or performance wise and 83HP is more than enough for highway speed. If you really want to compare horsepower choose a bike in the right category: KTM is belong in the performance category (sport, super sport and even sport touring) while this bike is more in the cruising category (Harley Davidson bagger line like Road King, Streetglide or other brands). Seriously have you ever seen a touring bike race with a sport bike? It's like an armadillo try to outrun a leopard, imagine that!
@annettenpaul

Mrslowmo212 Well, how about a BMW F800ST, an 800cc twin that makes 80 HP. About the same as the Honda, but with 500cc and 200 lbs less! And only two cylinders. Makes no sense to me, but if 83 hp is more than enough, they should have given it 60 hp, like a stock Harley.
@Mrslowmo212
@Mrslowmo212 9 жыл бұрын
Well there's a reason why it's called a sport touring: It's lightweight, has a sport (performance) engine and can cruise for a long distance with comfortable ride posture! And for the hp part, well lets say that 83hp sounds more attractive than 60hp, don't you agree? So yeah for people who preferred performance like you this bike makes no sense at all! But for certain people (maybe middle age or older) who want a bike that look modern and sporty with capability of long touring then this bike is for them. Personally I'd rather take the bonneville t100 and convert it into touring for budget bike or just take a damn Road King with the same price! (I love Harley btw)

Paul Darling Btw, you should do some research on torque/rpm and horsepower relationship. It will tell you why high displacement engine gives out so little power (harley, this bike and other cruisers) and why low displacement engine gives out such a high power (your bike, cbr1000 or 600). Here's an easy to understand explanation www.totalmotorcycle.com/school-SectionSixB.htm

Nice bike but they really screwed up the hp from 115 hp down to 89 hp ! WHY? WHO KNOWS! That’s typical Honda! I wanted a revamped ST1300 with a cruise control but they came out with this thing WITH THESE AWFUL LOOKING USELESS BAGS ! so i bought an FJR1300!

Samer Hamod Thanks, will do. He used to be a former subscriber, and yet he does not know what he is talking about, probably because he never owned one like we do. :) Will do. :) When you get a chance, stop by my channel and see what I have done so far, and if you want to, subscribe to it. I upload consistently. :) I am making a video of my first oil change, and I am running into some problems along the way. The next part I have to do is the oil filter change, and it seems that the oil filter strap metal wrench is not working. Going to have to get something else.

SilentPrayingmanTis I got mine as a demo for about 19,000 for the Deluxe model, and I was the only one in Northwest Arkansas that had it at the time, now the dealership has been selling some more of them. I think the Deluxe model probably goes for more than 19,000.
