Skip to 2:30 -- Thanks for the video, I was able to find it and was able to get break it loose with a small pair of pliers without removing any trim. Even with trim in place if drained pretty much straight down with a few drips on the sides. Got almost exactly a gallon out by draining only.

You touched an important point, there are so many garages who neglect to service a vehicle in the proper way! Well done and thanks for posting!

EXCELLENT job!! Thank you for this video! Tried to find this drain plug online and got nowhere. The tape, great idea! Thank you for showing the old coolant too. I'll never have my Honda serviced at a dealership again! They charge a pile of money, and then they don't want to do the job right. Rip-off!!

Your good! Thx for sharing your findings. Just like a few others have already mentioned, it looks like a blown engine gasket leaking coolant. But of course, only IMHO.

Wow thanks for sharing. Crazy how the dealership sold you a car like that.. i Couldn't figure out where it was on my 2018 so I just skipped doing this. Does the coolant spill all over the radiator when it drains? It looks like the drain plug is pointing up? And not down? How does that work?

No the coolant doesn't spill all over the radiator since the plug is at the bottom lite side on the radiator, if you are looking at your SUV from the front (left to where the license plate is)

Wow, looks like a head gasket or oil cooler leak! I never ever ever use a dealer. However, i was a certified ASE master mechanic and i have 24 years of mechanical experience in the Navy. Bottomline, learn to work on your vehicle.

Looks like you have leaking coolant due to engine oil overflow contamination, I have this same truck and case and the engine oil was low, is this the reason you're draining the coolant? What caused the oil contamination in your case? Normal coolant does not look like this, you'd usually see dirty coolant but not oily thick like in this case. You should check your truck again if you have it and see what's the condition of the coolant.

Luckily it’s still under warranty so I took it to the Honda dealer and they discovered a crack in the cylinder head that caused the oil to get into the coolant and coolant into the engine. They couldn’t tell why and how it happened but after over $14000 dollars in repair and a month later they replace the cylinder head and bunch of other parts that I don’t want to list here, basically I now have a brand new SUV (at least the engine) I am glad I caught this issue on time before causing additional damage.

@@THINGS.I.DO.007 I'm an automotive tech that deals with a lot of different makes and was doing some research on this condition, I was suspecting, either a bad head gasket or cracked head, it is weird that you have the same car with basically the same condition. It is rare for a head to crack just like that unless it is defective from the manufacturer. I think my best bet would be to watch the pressure of the crankcase and coolant reservoir to see if they are following the same pressure signature, thank you for the feedback.

@@scientist100 Would PCV valve has to do anything with it? I think the PCV valve is a breather for the engine...
@scientist100
@scientist100 3 жыл бұрын
@@alexrazumov9470 PCV wouldn't cause this, it is a breather from the crankcase and opens when the pressure is too high. Worse case is that it is always open and oil starts to accumulate in the intake area where the hose is but by design a lot of intake manifolds have a oil deposit design so that it doesnt become a mess over time.

This whole video is ridiculous, I mean, why do you have to pan the camera all around under the vehicle just to show the drain plug and you don’t need to show the WRONG places. And at the end you showed about a minute of what looked like oil draining into a pan. I hope you have other skills, because it certainly is not videos.
