If after refilling the fluid you are going to drive the vehicle and recheck the fluid level, don’t put the new crush washer on until after you recheck the fluid or otherwise you have just ruined a new crush washer. Good video, thanks!

One of the last statements: "repeat the process, to get that last little bit in there", I'm not sure about. I believe you mean to install the fill bolt, drive the vehicle back and forth a few feet, then try to get a bit more fluid in? I've seen that mentioned in other videos. For what it's worth, the Shop Manual makes no mention of this, and spec's 2.64 liter (2.79 US qt) at fluid change, which is about what you can do in one go, I think. Torque value for both bolts is 35 ft/lbs, btw. I used a slightly different fill set up: ran a long tube to the fill hole, with the other and connected to the tow hitch, and a little funnel pushed in. Then just poured in measured liters from a graduate. A little slow due to the long horizontal length, but fairly easy.

Very helpful, I also have a 2015. Thanks for the tip on topping it off after driving around a little, it did take a few more pumps to fill it all the way after driving it around, and ended up just under 3 quarts.

Thanks for the video. I recommend a fluid transfer pump (like a big hand soap pump) for both the rear diff and the center diff. It's a lot easier than trying to squeeze a bottle while holding a tube and then dumping 1/3 of your fluid on the ground (ask me how I know). I used a gallon pump for my gallon of vtm4 fluid and a quart pump for the quart of hyoid gear oil (honda genuine fluids and both pumps all from amazon)

I tried using a 3/8 6" extension to take out the plugs. It doesn't fit. What are you using to take them out?

I have a 2015 Honda Pilot. Some people are using the Honda fluid VTM-4. Some people are using the Honda fluid dual pump II. Which one do we use?
@RandomRobReviews11 ай бұрын
As stated in title. Vtm-4 is for pilot, dual pump would be for crv. And like models

I need to do this on my 06 which has front and rear differentials. Will a gallon jug be enough to do both of them or should I buy 2 jugs?
@RandomRobReviews6 жыл бұрын
No idea. I change my trans fluid and this rear diff. There is a small front diff but I can’t find any info on changing it’s fluid.
@mds24656 жыл бұрын
Random Rob I usually do the diffs every 15k both front and rear. My father has an 11 touring. That one I believe just has a rear differential and the front just has the transmission fluid.

@@jayanmanol see page 245 owners manual for "Transfer assembly fluid" GL4 or GL5 SAE 90 or 80w-90. I'm sure a good quality synthetic 75w90 like Mobil 1 would suffice.

Which website do you use to buy Honda fluids? Or did you buy the fluids from the dealership? Thanks
@RandomRobReviews7 жыл бұрын
I bought it all on amazon. If you have dealer close that works good too.

Amazon sells the fluids.

I'd vote dealership part department, give those guys some business, lol. They'll also ensure you get the correct fill/drain bolt washers.

I went kinda long. First one should be at 15k then every 30k after that.

do you know if the maintenance minder in the pilot will let you know when you should change it or just gotta go by millage ?

Yeah just follow the maintenance minder. FWIW, it seems like it's coming up every 40K kms for me, a bit under 30K miles.
