For this kind of issue does the door seal the cap less filler tube or does a check engine light trigger because of a leak else where? I’m trying to help someone but before I do I’m watching this video
@drewsshoplife Жыл бұрын
The fuel door just keeps the dirt out, the actual seal is in the neck end. This did fix this vehicle but these trucks have lots of Evap issues. I mostly see the Evap line on the engine crack or the Nvld (natural vacuum leak detection ) pump fails. I would look at the Evap line on the engine for any cracks first. They crack around where the fitting is installed into the nylon line. I have a video replacing this line.

@@drewsshoplife thank you for the response and as you commented I just saw in a other video the black seal that goes around the actual opening of the filler neck so I would have to see if they still even have that seal or not
@drewsshoplife Жыл бұрын
@E85_STI The main thing on the filler neck is the little flapper in the neck that gets pushed back when the fuel nozzle is inserted , that’s what actually seals. I’ve only had to do a couple of the necks since , it’s mostly the line on the engine that cracks.

@@drewsshoplife yeah I’ve seen that the line in the engine bay cracks and causes the leaks. I’m going to do the smoke test to confirm where it’s at but I want to fix the door for the guy as well and I’ve seen the videos on how to but is there any way to remove the fender liner and push the pin back into the spot for the door? Or do I have to remove the assembly to access the plastic pin for the door hinge?

Hi, is this the same for a 2021 Jeep Cherokee SRT model? I can't find any other videos but I assume it is the same across all Cherokees from 2014 until 2022? I ask this because I had someone help me refuel my car after running out of gas... they got a pen stuck in the filler neck! The car still works & all but I am selling the car soon, would definitely feel kind of strange knowing the pen is still in there. Any help, recommendations on removal or if it will even cause issues would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Can i buy the capped filler neck that's made for 2012 grand cherokee to install in a 2014 grand cherokee that has the capless filler ?
@drewsshoplife2 жыл бұрын

Would this process also be used for the 2015 Jeep GC?
@drewsshoplife2 жыл бұрын
The parts appear to be the same so I would assume it’s the same process. Unfortunately pro demand doesn’t list the process for a 2015 so I’m not certain, but with the part being the same it should be.

How much would this cost to repair? I have same issue.

According to the molar parts website the filler neck sells for $250 and the door assembly sells for $65 roughly. Plus maybe about an hour or two of labor, depending on the shop and their labor rate.

How many flaps are inside the filler neck?

Im not actually sure, defiantly one.

I think I have the same problem. Im experiencing very light gas vapor smells from that section of the car. No check engine lights on tho. But the door mechanism is flappy and loose like the one In this video
@drewsshoplife Жыл бұрын
Usually if you smell the vapor it’s an evaporative emissions leak. All emissions should go through the charcoal canister before vented to atmosphere to get rid of the smell.

@@drewsshoplife is this very expensive, and should I stop driving the car till I have this fixed. I live in Vegas where it gets very hot. Thanks for the reply!!
@drewsshoplife Жыл бұрын
@@deelow835 The neck online is a couple hundred dollars, usually it would set a check engine light for an Evap leak. It’s generally not a serious issue if it’s just a small leak.

Thank you for this. Pretty sure this is my problem. Getting the P0456 code. Had the purge vavle solenoid and leak detection pump replaced and im still getting the code. This job looks easy enough. THANK YOU! ill let u know how it turns out.
@E85_STI Жыл бұрын
Did it correct your code? I have a customer that wants me to look into this. The door is loose and I’m sure the little spring clip fell off the latch.
@thetrapboy Жыл бұрын
@@E85_STI man. Sorry for the late response. And YES it fixed the problem. When I took the old filler neck off, some of the rubber was worn the neck itself was almost rusted through. After I replaced the part, the code went away and i passed my emissions after about 2 days of driving.
