2014 Lexus IS350 F-Sport AWD Quarter Mile Drag with & without traction control

( www.TFLcar.com ) The 2014 Lexus IS350 is no dragster, never-the-less we wanted to see just how fast it will do the quarter mile at a mile above seal level. With a bit of luck, the Sol DL and an empty drag strip were were able to run the quarter mile in the 2014 Lexus IS350 F-Sport not once, not twice, but three times to compare how it does with the traction control on vs the traction control off. In another accurate, fun and informative TFLcar video we drag the quarter mile in the newest Lexus IS to see just how fast it will run the classic distance.

Thanks for the comment. Actually, you are completely wrong. The Solo DL in this video gives you the 0-60 times at the end of each run. Just stop the video and take a look at the Solo's screen for yourself if you are curious.

Still 92 mph at high altitude... after 1/4 mile with a natural aspirated V-6, pretty good. I see this IS350 as an alternate to the BMW 335i and Mercedes C350.

These guys make good videos, however they rarely mention that they are at nearly 6000ft. elevation which confuses people as the hosts get excited about a 15.5 second 1/4 mile time, or a car that can do 0-60mph in 8 seconds. Even 0-60mph runs are almost a full 2 seconds slower, so it makes sense the 1/4 mile is similarly affected.

If you did not notice the little not in the description..That should have been a bigger point in the video...This was done a mile above sea level, with a naturally aspirated car. Acceleration wise a IS350 and a Charger/Challenger RT are actually a toss up at the same elivation...

Over 600ft above sea Level. This car does 1/4 mile just under 14 seconds, and 0-60 under 5 seconds. Most videos if you time them with a stop watch, all do 4.7-4.8

Refinement and reliability is what makes Lexus-Lexus. First... IS-F. Immediately that disproves the fact that Lexus has enough power. Second, the parent company of Lexus, Toyota, has a rich heritage in racing. I don't get why Lexus wouldn't employ that in cars like the IS, WHICH is supposed to be their entry level sports sedan. Third, there's a vast community of Lexus enthusiasts who utilize the IS300 series for various racing applications. Lexus has a desert rally truck and they ran a modified IS in the Pikes Peak Hill Climb. Most with real enthusiasm for cars want at LEAST for Lexus to add a turbo and bring up the power. 220-250hp should be the base for the IS250, 330-360hp for the IS350 and 470-510hp for the IS-F. Lexus has been wanting to improve performance but F-sport is just a badging, not a performance standard as we all know. They need to quit being so mild and step it up. Germans get it. Audi has 400+HP wagon, BMW has the M series, porsche is porsche. With the technical prowess, high quality and racing pedigree of Toyota, Lexus needs to actually make their "sport" cars sporty. F-badged cars should feel special like AMG, M, or S for porsche and RS for Audi. Simple as that.

lol I'm 24, I live and work around cars. I own a 2000 Lexus GS and 2006 Lexus IS250. My parents own a Lexus ES and RX. I've seen and driven all models of the Lexus, except the LF-A and yes, the IS250 has never been praised for being adequate on power. It's okay, but even the base model BMW or Mercedes sedan has more pick-up and go. So when I speak, I speak from experience and actual love and appreciation for Lexus. By your logic then, Ferraris and Lamborghinis should never be seen again. It's about using 600hp to overtake a car. It's about having that fun factor, knowing that on the weekend you can take your car out and cruise on secluded roads or tracks. Thank you for judging me because I've never judged you, just discussed like an adult what I personally and the consensus I've gotten from this new generation of Lexus owners in the 2nd gen and up range IS model feel. Thanks for judging though. lol :)

In a Lexus or Acura I would really recommend using the paddle shifters in sport mode they are there for a reason!

On my IS350 there is the "speed shift" and there is the "power mode." When in speed shift mode the paddles are engaged. One can paddle down to about 2500 rpm going into a green light and blast through if it turns yellow. On the other side the engine could be high in rpm but then just paddle back up to 6. Not that I recommend this sort of driving practice. ;)

Nice video, but is it possible for you to remove the annotations after a few seconds (the ones you show at the start of the video, "subscribe", "click here for other video of this car", etc.)? They stay forever and are very annoying, and since I fail at precise mousing, I keep clicking the link instead of the little "x". More and more channels use annotations to advertise other stuff, and I guess eventually more and more people will just permanently disable annotations in the account settings...

No one said it wouldn't be slower at altitude, was just pointing out how a car that is LESS THAN HALF THE PRICE is nearly as fast. MotorTrend states the Lexus runs a 14.1 1/4, with only gets 2 runs I got a 14.7 at 31 degrees celcius, believe me or not. The car is capable of 14.5, not far off from 14.1 for 23,000. Opinions vary on the rental car thing, just like some people like the look of the Lexus, I for one don't, even the slightest

Nearly as fast in a straight line anyway. Also, I didn't bring up the rental thing for no reason - I've rented the 200 twice. The first time I went down a snowy road and the car behaved very, very badly despite the decent tires. The second time I had it for over a month as an insurance rental. It was painfully mediocre and made my daily drive painfully boring. What really drove me mad through was that the driver's side only had auto down. That's what the low price tag gets you.

My 2011 Chrysler 200 ran 14.7. At less than half the price loaded. You can get a bunch of other cars in the Lexus price range that are much faster and sometimes just as luxurious. Not a big fan of the front end, too overdone.
