2014 Mercedes E550 Cabriolet Test Drive & Luxury Convertible Car Video Review

A base E-Series car starts at $51,400 and the E550 Cabriolet tested here starts at $67,300 but the price can balloon with additional added packages and options.
The engine powering the E550 Convertible is a twin-turbo 4.7 liter V-8 that makes 402 horsepower and 443 lb-ft. of torque. Fuel economy figures are 17 MPG in the city and 26 MPG on the highway. The great thing about this engine is a large torque curve. All that power and torque are necessary though as the E550 Cabriolet weighs a hefty 4048 lbs.
The 2014 Mercedes-Benz E550 Cabriolet has a couple of great features to improve comfort of the passenger. The first is a system called AIRCAP which is essentially a spoiler on top of the windshield and a deflector behind the rear seats. These 2 automated parts work together to push the air flow p and over the passenger compartment minimizing wind. The second feature is the AIRSCRAF system which is a set of vents integrated into the head rests. These vents produce warm or cool air for the drive and front passenger.
The Mercedes E550 Cabriolet has a split personality. You can drive the car in ECO or Comfort mode which makes the car loft around on the roads. But switch the dial to Sport and the entire car wakes up and performs brilliantly.

I think this car looks it price. Ignoring badges it's proportions are that of a classic personal luxury convertible. And the front design is also very elegant and powerful with the sharp sweeping light shape, large air intakes, Chrome front splitter and the over all shape is refined and aggressive enough to make a statement

is this a great car 85K? probably not, but a 2 year old cpo with 8000 miles goes for 55000 and thats just fine if you ask me, much better than a new 435 vert

I'm surprised at this review. There's no way you'll convince me it doesn't look like an $80.000 car. The BMW looks too cheap, it doesn't have half the features this Merc has, and is generally smaller. This Merc has a beastly look, and also out performs the BMW. It also has more premium materials in its cabin.

Yeah, decent review, but I didn't understand that comment. I think the E coupe is one of the best looking cars on the road. We have a 2011 coupe and strangers stop and comment all the time.

+Kev50027 I know! I'm in England which of course is always freezing. At the moment I'm driving with the roof down and it's 11C. We buy more convertibles in the UK than any other European country and it really shows, there's convertibles on every street and most of them with the roofs down as soon as it's stopped raining no matter what the temperature is haha. Convertibles are supposed to be driven with the roof down, that's what climate control and heated seats are for.

overpriced… no… but I would definitely talk that price down. Which I did and got mine for 73,500 with all the options. Its a great car that rides extremely well and can carry my two young kids with ease. One of the best cars when you want luxury, some sport and the option to have your kids whenever the situation presents itself.
