Hey so I have the same car. The errors you are having are not because you are shorting out the electronics. It is because the rain/snow/ice blocks the sensors. Radar detects objects, so if the sensor sees something that is blocking it from doing its job, it tells you that it is not active. Mine has 50k in 5 years and it has had one out of warranty issue with the fuel sensor. Other than that, it has been fine.
@MohCars_8 жыл бұрын
Mercedes diagnosed it as that, and after fixing it twice, it seems fine now. Also, radar is usually not affected by rain. Snow and ice I can understand, but this happened in the rain too. Plus, because the Distronic, Pre-Safe, and the lane change assist are separate, all of them giving an error at the same times means it's probably unlikely that it can be all the sensors. Mercedes also saw moisture in the electronics. But that's pretty good that that's been the only issue with yours!

@minnesnowtan99702 жыл бұрын
First thought was it is only 1 year old, what could go wrong with it? Well the safety systems being disabled by heavy rain is bad, and by snow is worse. I think that such poor sealing is bad design and recall worthy. Although you were rocketing along at twenty mph, lunatic speed freak, (what car can handle 20mph in rain?!?!?) and I suspect hip-hop also can cause safety sensor failure :-) The dealer claimed a software update fixed it, but I seriously doubt that was anything more than an "I don't know what else to do" move. The electronics need better waterproofing, and it might be an idea to open the box and put a desiccant (moisture absorbing) packet in there as long as it won't short anything when damp and it gets changed for a new desiccant packet every few months. Just a theory on my part. - If it gets hot enough to melt the (apparently cheap) plastic knob, then the leather is also getting hot and that means dry. Condition/moisturize that leather a lot, it will pay off in resale value later. All of it not just the seats you use. It is extra work, I would say "don't have a cow" but the car already has one....Keep it nice you will be glad later for your efforts. - Sorry but you know little about tires. Go by model, not brand, some Continentals are excellent. A bulging sidewall has nothing to due with moisture (it is not a blister) but with rubber separation and such tires should be replaced immediately. The tires should also be under warranty either Mercedes or Continental. Best tire brands are Bridgestone, Continental and Michelin yet they all make some turd tires that Kumho or Dunlop can beat.

No wonder those cars go thru 4 ownership with only 40000 miles because of the way the dealership robs them without a gun. 200+ for oil change. 500+ to just look around your car and plug in diagnostics tools to wipe faulty codes and if you’re lucky, we’ll change your brake pads. Lol ridiculous, and let’s not talk about the cost of changing spark plugs and air filter (don’t worry we’ll give you a 2 week courtesy car for that 30mins job) lol

To be fair, majority of owners of higher range mercedes’ do not care. The reason high end cars change owners so often if usually because the first owner always wants the get the latest and greatest. I do not think these service prices are that unreasonable. But then again i have no idea what toyota/honda/nissan etc charges. And neither do most owners of these types of cars

With 2012 model I had a lot of issues- MB Tex skin on driver side is ripping. I replaced the rear spring shocks. I had an issue with rear lift gate. I also had to replace intake gaskets and PCV valve. I did the transmission fluid change on 70K miles. This is not to mention the regular maintenance once a year like oil change. A simple thing like replacing spark plugs is so complicated you would not even want to try if you aren’t sure. Pathetic delicate darling by Benz. Although it’s an immense pleasure vehicle to drive it’s a touch me not beauty. Lastly, I get a whistling sound on cold starts in Minnesota. I have heard a lot of complaints may be because of pulley or belt, I am disappointed because all this only on 80k miles and I bought a certified pre used when it had only 30K miles on it back in 2015. It’s plain horrible when the deal-steal-ers loot you as well!

@worldpeace585310 ай бұрын
@@jayAMG7 Except for the lift gate the rest I bought my own parts and got it done at local mechanic. Also I did not mention the rear radar sensors for blind spot which went bad last year due to snow. @MohCars_8 жыл бұрын
Hassan Majid i don't know anyone that has had one for that long, but I can tell you that you don't want to have one when the warranty is over. Actually, just recently, on ours, we noticed that the wipers do not go down fully (the heavy snow this year probably did that) and the passenger window gets stuck and does not go down all the way (idk why). So mechanically everything would be fine after 4 or 5 years, but not the electronics.
@Eiyaeiya8 жыл бұрын
+bigb9854 yea that maybe tho because of the conditions of where you live. I live in Houston and the only problems we have had with ours is a messed up headlight and a software update for the check engine light. The headlight we had to go multiple times to the shop because they never fixed it. Both of the problems came from the factory. But now it's not giving any problems.

I find it funny how the leather seats in your 22,000 mile $50,000+ Mercedes Benz are aging worse than the leather seats in my 40,000 mile $23,000 Hyundai Elantra. And you've had more problems. I don't understand why people still buy German cars... once upon a time, they built the finest vehicles money could buy... but nowadays? not so much. I personally would love to buy a Mercedes Benz, but I depend on my vehicle and cannot have an expensive car that keeps breaking down.
@MohCars_8 жыл бұрын
It's because they are the more luxurious, all-natural hides. We neglected to keep them conditioned. Buy the regular mb-tex leather and that will last lifetimes. I would still highly recommend this to anyone. We had our last one until 90,000 and we didnt have any problems, besides wear and collisions. We'll see how long this goes.
