Nice work! Enjoy the videos. Really liked the engine rebuild video series that I binged watched the other evening. Learned some great tips. I have been working on the same 2014 Ranger with a cold run popping issue that I thought might be valves but after a compression test of 65 psi and a leak down test of 25% through the crankcase I’m know not sure. Have you ever experienced this? The throttle body was dirty with soot from the valve side. Cleaned everything up with only a mild improvement. Seems to be strong running once warmed up on the top end with some missing or backfire/popping. Wonder if I have a warm timing chain issue which I plan on investigating. Any thoughts? Keep the videos coming. Thanks.

Thank you sir glad you enjoy my content. As for your issue, we’ll it’s time for a top end rebuild. 65psi is to low. Service range is 80-120. Compression greatly is noticed when cold and at idle. As motor warms parts swell and bring compression up a bit and will start to run little better. Popping is unburnt fuel due to low compression. I’d recommend new top end (jug, piston, rings) replace timing chain and guides, update tensioner for chain. Also with head off put some parts cleaner down ports and see if it leaks pass valves. If no leak valves good. If you see fluid coming pass valve time for valve job. Hope this helps you.

@@montemania198210 Thanks for the reply. I realized that I didn’t have the needed 10mm fitting for my compression or leak-down tester. I removed the airbox and the Throttle Body which I noticed was dirty on both sides of the Butterfly. I suspected intake valves leaking and popping back but after spraying the tops of the valves with Berrymans B12 there wasn’t any leak, it pooled on top of the valves. I cleaned up the air intake system and reinstalled. I got the correct compression fitting for the cylinder and it tested 65 psi compression. I then did a leak down test and that scored 25% leakage, mostly coming from the crank case. The valves didn’t appear to be leaking. I still feel that a Top Overhaul is needed with the low compression reading. I just don’t believe that is the main cause of this problem, could be wrong. I still need to pull the codes from the ECM to see if it could be partially electrical. It does have a new NGK plug in it and looks clean, not lean or rich indications. Any thoughts are appreciated. Thanks. FYI, my background is Briggs, Kohler, Tecumseh small engines and automotive engines, new to Polaris.

Do you have any links for the wheels and tires? They look great. I've been meaning to do an upgrade on my 2013 ranger crew. Thanks!

Wheels are Polaris oem aluminum, tires are tusk terrabite 27x9x12 and 27x11x12 on Amazon (also recommend Sunf) 1” spacers on Amazon. You’ll also need the Polaris lug nuts for aluminum rim. If you have fb come to my group there, I can send all info. PolarisNutsGarage on FB
