Hello. Thank you for the video. I recently bought a 2018 3500 Ram Tradesman. Did not come with the brake controller, surprisingly. So..., just got back from the dealer where they put in the genuine Mopar part. I've got an electric brake car hauler I think I'm going to fix up and start using again. 😃

When you scrolled to heavy electric how did you get the check mark to go to heavy electric. I can scroll in mine but can't figure out how to actually get the check mark on it?

Interestingly, I've also got a 2014 Ram and installed the factory trailer brake controller. Everything technically works as it should. I have the settings in my radio screen, but not in the EVIC. While it's redundant, I'd like to have the settings displayed in the EVIC as well.

@@brennanperry6189 I had to take my RAM to the dealer and they plugged it into the RAM mainframe. The option has to be 'registered' as if you ordered the option as new.

The installation is easy except for putting the screw in the pcm mounting bracket closet to the firewall. Then you have to go to the dealership and have them activate the sales code (XHC)

What trim is your truck? Tradesman or Express? I just got a Ram ST 2014 (the mexican equivalent of a Tradesman) and I was thinking to add the trailer brake controller... Thanks.

2013 ram tradesman. I don't have the dash settings , but the controller works. 🤔 Is there something else my mechanic needs to program thru the computer to allow the dash settings to show ?

I have a 2018 ram 1500 V6 tradesman. After the installation, did you took it to the dealership to enable it? I need to install mines because is two times already i had over heated the rotors. I haul every day.

Yes, The Ram went to the dealer for them to update the software for the brake controller. They basically add this option to your onboard computer as if it was a new vehicle option. The brake controller will not work without this step.

You do nothing but set the 'bias' and the 'trailer type'. It is all automatic. You don't have to do anything...

in order to change settings trailer should be plugged in, correct ? Cause when i try to access it from the dash tells me trailer not connceted, from the radio screen instead i can play with it..

I have the same truck. what does the gain mean? i will be pulling a small popup camper about 2100 pounds.

Gain is just the strength of the power to the brakes. The higher the gain, the harder the brakes apply.

What was the cost for the reflash from the dealer

1 hour (minimum) labor. They originally said $100. I bitched and they did it in 10 minutes and charged me $60.

Yes. Bought it on Amazon from a dealer in Iowa. Watched someone else's KZbin video and installed it myself. Took about an hour, and I was working real slow. Took it to the dealer and they went online and 'registered' the dash with the tow controller. Easy to do.

Yes. Installed at home in the garage. Took an hour. Except for a couple of mount screws, it was easy.

Yes, I put it in myself. The dealer programmed the dash module to accept the signal from the controller.
