Just a little garage time madness. This is my first adventure removing the tank. I wanted to share the process with you, in case anyone found it helpful. I referred to the Clymer Manual for this. I'm a visual learner, and while the manual was helpful, it would have helped more if it had clearer and color pictures. Though the video is far from pro, I hope it, in combination with the other videos out there, will assist with your tank removal. Have fun with your project!

This was so helpful, I really appreciate your style. If you ever feel compelled to make more videos on working on this bike I would love to see them! I have the same bike, same color and everything. Working on replacing the spark plug and getting the carburetor back in right now

Thanks, very useful. I need to run a usb charging cable from the battery to the front, and wondering if I need to remove the tank or not.

You should be able to slide the battery out of the box enough to place the connections. Then you can slide the USB cable under the tank, and fish it out at the handlebar end. Shouldn't have to remove the tank.

@@MototasticAdventures I did exactly that! It was too much work to drain the valves and petcock. Just lifted tank barely to push in a line and pull the cord up from the battery side. Also ditto on the battery - didn't have to remove it - seemed more work. Though at some point I wonder if I will have to remove battery to top up fluid levels. I dread it. S40 battery access design is overly restrictive. Thanks
