I saw this the Thursday before the Tonys. I was skeptical!! But from the first note..she WAS Billie Holiday!! Blew me away!!! So well deserved, her Tony. She worked hard!! But...she did Billie proud!!!

Man she had already sealed the deal on stage. But she turned it up even a little MORE for this Tony's performance. She was showin' out GOOD here like she KNEW she could do Billie by then! My respect for her as an actor exponentialized when I saw her in Emerson's. To not only take on the mannerisms, but the iconic VOICE is acting at an otherwordly level.

it was an excellent play ! Ioved it in 2014. Audra deserved her sixth Tony for this one. My cousin, Shelton Becton was in the play as the pianist Jimmie Powers

I remember seeing this in passing while I was flipping through channels on TV back in 2016. It's one of the only times in my whole life where I can say I was magnetized from switching channels again. This is one of those few performances where actress is gone and character has completely emerged, if only in her singing. She sounds so pinpoint-perfect like Billie Holiday. Such an amazing achievement in acting, and the Tony was completely deserved.

Audra has just brilliant voice, educated, trained to perfection, and performing Billie PERFECT! She can sing everything she wants... But, she can not sing that sorrow in Billie's voice. Sorry, but if I have to choose, I choose Billie, with all her imperfections, but with more sorrow and emotions in her voice! Lets be clear - Audra is just a PERFECT singer, but Billie is... Love her voice and script but not enough research done. Billie Holiday did not like children, at all and she never wanted children. Research is very important.
