How long it takes in total from start to finish? what is the reason it needs to be replace? Is the engine from Japan (JDM)? How did you pick a good used engine or engine with transmission? thanks so much for the video.

Hello, I thoroughly enjoyed your video and it was so helpful! I'm in the process of removing a 2009 Corolla engine and was wondering how you were able to disconnect the bottom (2) bell housing bolts. On my Corolla they are blocked by a subframe that runs under the bell housing. Did you loosen all the engine/transmission mounts a bit and raise the engine 2-3" with the hoist to gain access to these bolts, then lower it back down to remove the last (5) bolts, or is it possible to lower that subframe slightly? My 2009 is a Gen-10, so maybe it's slightly different than your Gen-11 2014 model? If so, I guess I'll have to remove the transmission as well - per the recommended procedure in ALLDATA, but that seems like a lot of extra work. Hopefully there is a simple solution - your video didn't show clearly how you removed these exact bolts I'm referring to, so any help would greatly be appreciated! Thanks again.

Hi how are you ? Hopefully you did remove your engine If now than I would like to help you ! To be honest I did not get any engine like yours out yet but I think it should be very similar to this one . In my case the bolts comes out very easy there is no subframe ! Idk exactly which bolts are you talking about but if you still need help than you can text me in mechanic mode Instagram and also send me some pictures so I can see it ! Thanks you for your good words and good luck with your car 👍🏼🤛🏼

Just did this today. I removed all the bolts from the crossmember. I couldn't get the crossmember out because it seems to be tucked under the rear transmission mount, but I was able to swing it to the side enough to get a wrench on the bottom two bell housing bolts. Definitely a pain.
@scottgarland17812 жыл бұрын
@@AnonYmous-yi4zy I used the exact same strategy as you did Anon - just unfastened the front transmission mount and removed a few bolts (or nuts - it's been awhile since I did it) from the rear transmission mount and the subframe slide out of the way enough to unfasten the 2 bell housing bolts. I had floor jacks under the engine and transmission since it was difficult to tell if this subframe was a critical structural support for either. In the end, it didn't appear that it was. Engine is out and the rebuild is going well. Thanks again for posting the video - very helpful!! Stay safe

Mechanic Mode: My 2012 corolla engine seized. I found a low miles 2016 corolla engine. Can I replace my engine with 2016 engine? A local mechanic said it will fit but I am worried about any possible physical differences between the engines, engine bay, connections, sensors, position of surrounding components, frame of car? Should I look for 2012 corolla engine instead? I will really appreciate your input. I will also appreciate other viewer's opinions. Thanks.

@@mechanicmode awesome! Do you have an idea on how hard it would be to replace the 2zr with a 1zz? I've got a relatively bad rod knock and think my engine is set to die in the next 6 months. If I can't get my hands on a junkyard 2zr-fe motor, a junkyard 1zz is the next best thing in my eyes. How difficult would that be to do?

As long as its the same 1.8l vvti engine. Which I think it might be. Cross check part numbers but I'm pretty sure I see when I buy parts for my 2016 S corolla it's for those years and motor 1.8L.
@alpinegh2 жыл бұрын
I'm about to do the same right now on a Matrix. I'll confirm in a couple of days but yes it should work. A lot of sites will tell you the comparability starts on 2011-17 but that's not true. The 2009-2010 share the same 2ZR-FE engine. The main difference between the 09-10 and 11+ models is they fixed the VVTI issue, which if you had the 09-10 should have been replaced under warranty and would make it work like a 11+ engine. As the 14+ are a different generation, you might have to use the accessories (alternator, intake, etc) from your old engine. But other than that it should bolt right up. Again not 100% sure, but around 95%. I'll let you know in a couple of days.
