These instructions were so good that put to shame the Toyota manual explanations of "how to change the battery" in the smart key! In the manual there is NO illustration of WHERE is the battery to be changed, and all they show is what is under the circuit, not that the illustration shown is what you can see AFTER you have lifted the circuit panel as shown here. This is a good instructor; I wish he had been hired to design the manual.

Crystal clear. Side note, you can not only get into your Prius with a dead FOB battery, but , you can start it by holding the FOB next to the start button and it should read it and allow ignition. I only have one FOB with my just purchased Gen 3 Pruis. 57.2mpg on the drive home from the dealership! That's the only driving that I have done, so far. :)
@cfldriven3 ай бұрын
You are correct even with a dead FOB you can start the Prius kzbin.info/www/bejne/hWiYiYKZltB2fcU. I would look into having a spare FOB in case yours gets lost or damage. BTW congrats on the Gen3, probably the most practical of all the gens available. Tons of cargo space and a money saver.

Very nice. In my 2016 Prius manual nothing is mentioned how to change the battery ( Dutch version). The video was self explanatory and shows that no paper manuals are needed anymore. Nice job. BTWay, my battery only lasted 11 month on a new car.
@cfldriven6 жыл бұрын
Our 2014 Prius came with a manual and DVD, the instructions for replacing the fob battery were almost impossible to locate and the DVD didn't cover the subject. In four years of ownership we have switched out each fob battery just once. Most of that time the car was in southern Calif and not subjected to cold weather which I believe extended the usable life of the battery. Thanks for writing and watching.

Is there only one size (CR-1632) battery for the 2010 battery fob? My husband's door OPEN function stopped working. So I put in the board from the backup and it didn't work--until I put in the OLD battery. I got it working, but I didn't see the CR1632 on the Maxell battery. I don't want to open it again now that it works, so let me know if you have info about another coin battery that works. Great video. I'm 77 and grew up in a time where "girls" didn't know shit about fixing things. Thanks to people like you and KZbin, I'm am now looked upon by my husband (who couldn't fix a coin if it was heads and he wanted tails ha) as Super Woman. I love fixing things--and the dealer wanted $200 for the fob and $150 to program it. Hey folks, don't go to dealers, go to KZbin. Thanks 1632 times!
@cfldriven3 жыл бұрын
CR-1632 is the battery for Gen3 Prius, it maybe diff for the C or 5 models. Perhaps the battery either failed or was placed in backwards, only a guess on my part. BTW I taught my daughter to change a tire, and although at the time she grumbled, she thanked me many years later when she know exactly what to do. Thank you for the feedback and for sharing.
@bobbiesavitz31343 жыл бұрын
Will you be my Dad? I’m old but still useful. You are great. Ordered new CR-1632 batteries. Does anything make them last as in leak less? Tell your daughter, she lucked out. Thanks again...
@cfldriven3 жыл бұрын
@@bobbiesavitz3134 Thank you for making my day. If by leak you mean the battery draining over time, the only thing you can really do is not install it until needed. The fob emits a single all the time, it is how the car knows if the fob is inside the car when locking the doors form the outside or when the fob is no longer in the car and the motor is on. Therefore if you are not using both fobs you could tape the battery to the outside until such time as you need it. Hope that helps.
