Hi, Think about Lithiums.... energy denisty of Lithiums range from 130 to 250 wH/kg depending on chemistry. AGM's have about 40 wH/kg. Lots more recycles, less weight, less volume. More expensive initially, but if you run the numbers the Lithiums can be up to 1/2 less expensive in the long run...

Yes, maybe next time!

I saw this vid before and seeing it was about 5 years ago you ever consider lithium bats by now jist wondering..

Have you considered using 2 volt cells? Much less resistance making charging and discharging a lot more efficient.

Pete Sherwood We did consider changing but ultimately decided to just replace what we had. What we have works well and we understand it (we are not electricians). Changing would have required, at the least, some reconfiguration of space and other changes.

Yeah you would need to change the cabling for the interconnections at the very least. The 2 volt cell tend to be a little taller too. If you have the time available next time I would definitely have a good look at that option, the benefits in efficiency and lifespan are quite significant.

What is the disposal process for the old batteries. Does the local dealer take them back as part of the transaction?
@nordhavn729 жыл бұрын
RC Leander Yes, they will and give you "core value". In our case, a local battery shop will pay $0.18 per pound or about $30 per battery for recycle.

Wow, each battery is 167 lbs? How are they able to handle them so easily? I am sure those youngsters will be sore tomorrow.

radbcc Maybe it looked easy - there was plenty of grunting and groaning involved. And it didn't go real fast!

Have you considered Panasonic 18650 batteries, higher power density/weight ratio. Just maybe suggest looking into it for next swap. God bless.... ps they are easier to handle too.... EV West sells them in pre-made Tesla style modules. as seen here.... www.evwest.com/catalog/product_info.php?cPath=4&products_id=329

Thanks, will look at options next time. For this one, we just decided to replace with exactly what we had to avoid the need to make any other changes.
