Thanks, I had the same code, same cylinder, it cleared itself after a good bit of time, after I was all set to pull and replace the glow plug. the fault never affected the starting noticeably. Same engine, same year. Now I have an intermittent pressure sensor issue, your info was super helpful. I just reseated the connectors as it runs okay. Nice work.

Quick way to check without even moving the engine cover is by quickly removing the glow plug relay in the fuse box under the bonnet. All four pins can be checked from the relay socket. Also proves the cables to the glow plugs are good too.

I’ve just done this and all 4 glow plugs read 0.7-0.9. They all seem good but still getting PO684 fault along with all glow plug code faults. Assuming this is relay at fault is there any tests I can do to prove it’s 100% the relay?

Helps to run engine for a few minutes before trying to undo if glow plugs are tight. The aluminium head expands faster than the steel glow plug so sometimes this makes them undo easier.

I will be putting high heat grease on the threads when I get into them next. I warped one glow plug when taking it out because the socket was not a perfect fit. Very silly to design it with paper thin metal housing.

Great video thanks. looking for advice please. Ive a 2009 Q5 1968cc Starter motor has to turn engine about 10 times when cold. Scanned and got the 4 codes P067100 + 2 + 3 + 4. Ok I know it's showing the 4 heater plugs issue. However could they be ok and it's the module and not the plugs? Would a faulty module show it's own separate fault? Or is the module giving false error as in faulty plugs which are not faulty? Looking forward to your reply Thanks MOR

Hi amazing video definately subscribing! Quick question, I have a MK7 GTD and recently had all 4 glow plugs changed but didn’t put the glow plug with the pressure sensor in and now there is a check engine light and also says cylinder 3 compression fault on the reader. Will putting the pressure sensor glow plug in the correct place (cylinder 3) fix the issue? And would you recommend an Amazon purchase for the glow plug? And where would I find the correct glow plug size and spec? Thank you
@diydaly
@diydaly 2 жыл бұрын
ive listed a link for the glow plugs in the description.. did yours have a pressure sensing plug originally then? you should be able to fit the wrong plugs that all as the connectors are different from pressure sensing / normal glow plugs
@10casem
@10casem 2 жыл бұрын
Thanks for the reply. Yes organially there was a pressure sensor on cylinder 3 and no there’s not which is why I am confident this is the reason for the check engine light. I have mk6 jetta tdi that just recently showed glow plug and engine compression fault. I replaced all the plugs with new. However, the new all looked alike. They all have the "castle" looking top. The glow plug fault is now gone, but I am still getting a cylinder pressure fault. It runs flawlessly, quick, fast, with no stutter to the engine. Just the pesky compression code. Any ideas?
