I have my 2015 Honda CRV for about 10 months and experienced the same vibration issue from day 1. I used to shift the gear to neutral to stop the vibration until last month, I happened to find a very simple and easy way to get rid of the vibration when idling at the red light! How to do it? When the vibration occurs, simply turn the steering wheel to left or right. Please note, you are not actually turning the front wheels, just attempting to turn it. Once you feel the steering wheel a little bit tight, you can let go of it. Instantly you will feel the unusual vibration going away. I guess the power steering system may put some force to the engine and acts the effort like you turn on the A/C or headlights. Everybody has this uncomfortable issue can give it a try. It works!

My 2011 Camry SE and 2014 Highlander LE Plus also vibrate at idle/stoplight like this CR-V, but I barely notice it unless I really concentrate on it. It doesn't bother me a bit. I think it is a very common vibration for most non-luxury cars. People who are too sensitive to vibration should buy a luxury crossover like the RDX instead of the CR-V. I was looking for a crossover and kind of concerned about the vibration issue that people complained on many CR-V forums, but after seeing many videos about it, they didn't bother me at all. The CR-V is on my short list next year when I buy a new car.

I purchased my 2015 CR-V on 11/01/2014. The dealer didn't has the color I wanted, so they transported my wanted color from another dealer. When the car arrived it was around 6pm. I didn't get chance to do a drive test. The next morning when I drove the brand-new car (36miles) and waited for traffic light I felt the car vibrated pretty bad. I immediately drove the car back to dealer. The Honda dealer let me drove the car to their Service Department. The guy there said the car is normal, no vibration. How it is normal with vibrating seats and vibrating window glass (when window glass is lowered to half). I have a Chrysler Town & Country Minivan that I have drove for over six years I didn't feel that bad vibration. I wanted to exchange to another one, but they said the car is normal, they don't want to change it for me. The dealer said the Honda engineer from headquarter will come within 2 weeks. They will let him inspect my car. Two weeks later the Honda dealer called me and let me drive the back to their service department. 3 hours later they called me and told me the Honda Engineer said the car is normal!! One week after my purchase of the lemon car. Honda did a survey and I complained the vibration problem to the guy who called me. He is very rude said he is doing survey and don't want to listen the car problem. FXXK Honda, what's your purpose for the survey?!! The Honda dealer and the Honda engineer are telling lie. They don't want to resolve the problem, they just lie in front of the truth of vibration. I have drove 25000 mile so far, the vibration worse, and I feel dizzy when I wait for traffic light. If you want to buy Hond CRV, please think about it twice, and do a drive test carefully. This will be my last Honda car. I hope Honda will be fined for another $70 million for unreported safety problem. Honda sucks.

Just bought a brand new 2018 Honda Pilot EX-L (V6) and after about a week, I started to notice a faint vibration and humming sound coming from the gearbox and steering wheel going anywhere between 55-75 mph. It doesn't happen all the times just on occasions (on or off the Eco button). I was puzzled so decided to take it the service department. They didn't have a clue but several people I spoke to. 2 being Honda tech workers and a couple of Honda vehicle owners, they all confirmed it was the activation of the VCM technology as they also felt the slight vibration. After watching a few VCM videos and reading about it, I've come to the conclusion that on/off of the VCM is the cause of the slight vibration. The non-active cylinders saving fuel causes slight vibration. Again, some people might not even notice it, but some drivers may. I've gotten used to it and will see how it works going forward. It only has 1700 miles, so I have until I think 100k miles for the tranny and motor with regards to warranty. Love my car so I'll stick with it and what to see what happens. If anybody else has a Honda Pilot or any other current 2015 and newer Honda vehicle, PLEASE share your experience here or notify me through You Tube email. What even more bizarre is that I contacted a representative at American Honda and they don't have a clue of what VCM is nor did they tell me it could be what I was experiencing - go figure. 🤣 Thank you, Here's a video I found that explains VCM. kzbin.info/www/bejne/qnq9gWNmZ5mmqqc

These engines have a solid valve train and the rocker arms need to adjust every 80k miles. Due to the fact that they tighten up over time; that can also contributes to vibration. My Honda Element with a K24A2 swap vibrates like mad at idle and it’s worse with the A/C on.

We've got a 2005 2.0L CRV with the K20 similar to the RSX's (overseas version) here in the Philippines and oddly, it does the complete opposite. It idles really smooth at idle, to the point I've almost turned the key again thinking the engine's still off lol, but when the AC is on (100 degree temps here as well, specially in the summer), it starts to vibrate like such. Anything on my console like a coin or two would vibrate and is noticeable with a bottle in the cupholder like in your vid, Motor mounts seem ok, since there's basically no vibration when the AC's off but I'm suspecting that the AC compressor is either lacking or overfilled with refrigerant. Anyways, nice 2015 CRV and great vid quality! Hope your issue got fixed with the TSB :)

Well, I picked up a 2015 Honda Cr-V EX with 65k highway miles for $13k in PRISTINE condition in and out including new set of Michelin Defender tires, new brakes and rotors. Yes, there is some vibration at idle without any accessories on, but if you have heat on, air conditioner or flick the headlights on and it goes away. I totally get how paying close to $30k, this would be a sore spot, but is it really that big of a deal????? Especially if you pick these up cheap nowadays. All you really need to do is slightly turn wheel to engage power steering and hold it there at a light and the vibration stops too. The 2014's do it too, btw.

It has to be the power brakes that are causing the issue. That is the only variable being removed when you use the E-Brake instead of the foot brake. I certainly don't know how computers work inside cars, but I would guess that there is logic in there that says... If headlights, A/C, or Rear Defroster are on, then force RPM up.... I would think that they could do a software update that says... If power brakes are in use and speed is equal to 0, then keep the RPM up to 800?
@shahram729 жыл бұрын
My new one does this too. I am like you on this, it seems normal on a car of this caliber. But like others say, it is possible to make it not vibrate and they should have done something different.
@Sprinkles-BtE9 жыл бұрын
shahram72 I've read on the CRV forums that it's believed that the problem lies with the engine mounts. The Honda Accords have been using the same engine/transmission combination for a while now without the vibration issue. In the Accord, they use "hydraulic engine mounts", while on the CRV they do not and it's not clear why. If that's the case, it would be nice if Honda would issue a recall to retrofit those same engine mounts in customers' already purchased 2015 CRVs. But I imagine that cost would be huge. The will likely just bandaid this with a higher idle RPM or do nothing at all and hope people forget and just apply the hydraulic engine mounts in 2016 or 2017 CRVs. It probably comes down to the bean counters. What will cost more?... the loss of the burned customers loyalty or the cost of the recall and fix. They'll likely go with whatever's cheaper. =/

@Sprinkles-BtE9 жыл бұрын
dieselboy808 I completely agree on holding out until they resolve it. My VW Tiguan was like that and I've made the same mistake in turning the car on while it was already idling. I miss it still sometimes - it was a much more refined car on many aspects then this CRV (though more expensive). I just don't miss paying for premium fuel, piss-poor mpg, delay in throttle response, touche brakes, numerous mechanical repairs (under warranty/recall), and smaller overall backseat & cargo room.

Ya i considered the tiguan R line, but all the things u mentioned about it is what made me think twice. Someone posted a way of improving the vibration problem which was to increase the rpm by turning the highbeams on, and there was a noticeable improvement. So I thought maybe because I always have the aircon and radio on that maybe I wouldn't notice the vibration as much. But I would feel much better if they actually address the issue. @Sprinkles-BtE9 жыл бұрын
Katmandu2 DI engines have been around for quite some time now with many makes and models using it long before Honda *finally* decided to put into their CRV - they're actually pretty late in the game here. My 2010 VW Tiguan for example, the car I traded in for to purchase this 2015 CRV, had direct injection and had absolutely no vibration detectable. Direct Injection, from what I've read, doesn't necessarily mean the engine vibrates more, but tends to be louder with their clicking sounds as their fuel injectors are much higher PSI. Also, they require a bit more maintenance since their valves can't be cleaned by a fuel additive and eventually get fouled up and need a rather costly manual cleaning (if you can't do it yourself). With that said, like in my description, one of the only professional reviews that mentions the 15' Honda CRV vibration issue, Alex on Auto's mentions why *honda's DI engine in particular* vibrates more than other cars at the 5: 45 mark : kzbin.info/www/bejne/a6SQf6FvhceinLs The Honda Accords have been using the same engine/transmission combination for a while now without the vibration issue. In the Accord, they use "hydraulic engine mounts", while on the CRV they do not and it's not clear why.
@Katmandu29 жыл бұрын
Why would Honda not use hydraulic motor mounts in the CRV.? Newer DI engines no longer suffer carbon build up on the valve stems. That issue was largely solved by PCM changes with timing. Google it.
@Sprinkles-BtE9 жыл бұрын
Katmandu2 That's a good question. bfy.tw/14t2 :) Thanks for the info regarding newer DI engines - good to know. Honestly, if I had to guess why they didn't use hydraulic motor mounts is probably cost. I hadn't even heard of that technology until recently. Pretty cool stuff. www.bobistheoilguy.com/forums/ubbthreads.php?ubb=showflat&Number=2941903 When I made this video and mentioned 'the vibration reminded me of the time I used to modify my old mustang', I didn't mention that I had also installed urethane motor mounts (supposedly for less torque loss over stock rubber mounts). www.maximummotorsports.com/Urethane-Motor-Mounts-1996-04-46L-Mustang-P926.aspx These mounts combined with the more aggressive cams installed, lol, the vibration was pretty obnoxious. The lopey exhaust note was sweet thought!

Katmandu2 Good stuff Kinh. Should put to rest where the vibration is coming from. Hopefully, Honda will install hydraulic motor mounts for those owners who can't stand the vibration.

Hi, from my perspective, it is the Engine carbon deposit problem. This is so famous for direct fuel ejection resulting in engine carbon deposits. Any 2015-16 CR-V with the CVT which was all of them if I recall. But the shaking is not the same across all models and the severity varies. You can get lucky or unlucky or you can be overly sensitive to it or not notice or care. It's the combination of high sensitivity to vibrations and getting unlucky is where people reported feeling ill. I had all 3 TSB fixes done and it didn't help. Honda, to this day refuses to address it further. I just live with it. Many people, as you may have noticed claim that's just how 4 cylinder engines are. That may be, but my previous CUV experience absolutely none of it. So perhaps they just have better vibration dampening.
@OldCootProductReviews5 жыл бұрын
@@Sprinkles-BtE So the 6 cylinder engines didn't have the problem?

@@OldCootProductReviews I don't believe they ever offered the CR-V with a 6 cylinder engine. I don't know if all 6 cylinder engines are inherently better at NVH (Noise, Vibration and Harshness). However, if you really want to ensure you don't get a Honda CR-V that vibrates, then just avoid the 2015-16 Honda CR-V models. All the previous years and later years are fine. It has to do with the combination of their crappy engine mounts and off-set cylinder design and manufacture tolerances that vary slightly.

Consumer Reports reliability data is a collected from a non random survey unlike reputable institutions such as J. D. Powers. Consumer Reports surveys are CR member exclusive. In other words you have to purchase and be a member of a biased (cult like) magazine that constantly ranks on domestic vehicles in order to fill out the survey. Therefore, CRs reliability data never correlates with non-biased random surveys. When data is compared, CR’s reliability data is always tainted toward the direction of the big 3 (Toyota, Subaru, Honda). That’s not to say the survey is useless, it just means you need to subtract for perception instinct of CR’s customer base. To prove a point, just google 2015 Honda CRV vibration issues. I think this Consumer Reports highly rated junk box vibrated the brains out of the Consumer Reports auto authors. Just google it. How could CR recommend this vehicle? It's a Honda, that's how. I have a 2016 crv se and it vibrates a little, who cares it's a car not a hyperbaric chamber, cars have motors, motors Shake a little, it doesn't rattle your teeth out or anything, the vibration just travels up the empty seat and vibrates the head rest sometimes, idk y people trash Honda about it. when you stub your toe on the coffee table do you call the table company and complain the wood is too hard? I just feel people should save complaints for real problems.
@Sprinkles-BtE7 жыл бұрын
It's because I have perspective to judge against. I traded in a 2010 Tiguan SE for this Honda CRV (same class, compact CUV) and it had absolutely no vibration at all. NONE. Many cars of this class do not. I've grown used to it but it does bother my passengers. Expect better. Demand better. It raises the bar for all manufacture and gives us better products for cheaper by way of healthy competition.
@Robbydhjr7 жыл бұрын
Kinh Williams ,I understand what you are saying, but if you want a vehicle that is the same as your vw, then maybe you should have gotten another vw. I'll take a slight vibration for a few more mpg and 20 more horsepower, no one ever thinks about the fact Honda gets class leading horsepower and mpg, that kind of a feat takes stringent fueling and maybe they had to cut fuel at idle making rpm a little low. I'd rather have that than be required to take my Tiguan in for servicing every 10k miles for $500 each visit. Everything in life is give and take, I'll take a stupid unnoticeable vibration for all that Honda is giving me, besides I'm not staring at my empty headrest at every stoplight.
@Sprinkles-BtE7 жыл бұрын
There's a lot of misinformation you're responding with but I don't think it's intentional. My VW never cost me $500 dollars per visit. In fact, all maintenance cost was covered for the first 36k miles and then I only had to pay for oil changes every 10k after then. I did have a transmission leak at 50k and a fuse box recall but that was all covered under 60k warranty - I didn't pay a dime. The VW was quite a bit faster at 200hp/207tq vs the 186hp/181tq of the CRV. It was also far far quieter, refined, and fun to drive. But because I was starting a family, I traded in the VW tiguan at 76k because I need the better fuel mileage and more cargo space. I understand everything is a give and take however this issue with Honda's CRV is inexcusable and I'll explain: The vibration occurs because Honda made the change to their engine (cylinder offset) and paired with their new CVT. If you see the description of this video, I have a link where it takes you to Alex on Auto's video of the Honda CRV, to the exact point in time that shows the cylinder offset. This increases the engines efficiency over the 2014 & earlier line of CRVs by a couple mpg but at the added cost of NVH. They compensate for this by added beefier engine/transmission mounts to absorb said vibration. The inexcusable part is, that they successfully, and completely negated the vibration of the *exact same* engine and transmission combination, offset and all, in the Accord (no complaints). The issue persist only on t he CRV in all variants (2nd, AWD, LX to Touring) ! The point is, they *can* fix it but they don't want to eat the cost. Now there is a TSB to fix the vibration for us CRV owners but it has very mixed results. If you frequent Honda forums, many report unsatisfactory in the so-called "fix". I had the fix done as well and it didn't remove the vibration but rather just moved the severity of the vibration to a different point of the RPM spectrum. Also, while it may be unnoticeable to you, doesn't mean it's unnoticeable to others. It doesn't bother me much (other than buyer's remorse) but it actually bothers my wife regularly! And it has nothing to do with "staring at an empty headrest at every stoplight", I only did that to demonstrate to viewers of the video. She feels it and it becomes grating, especially on long trips.
@Robbydhjr7 жыл бұрын
I don't want this to become a pissing match so this will be all from me. I am not misinformed, I actually own a 2015 Jetta and I know it actually costs an estimated $300 per servicing and every third or so is more in depth and costs much more, in fact people stopped buying vw in the US because of the maintenance costs and lack of reliability so they started giving a few servicings for free when you buy one new, that is fact sir. Also, a Tiguan base price is ten thousand dollars higher than a crv, I'm sure it's pretty smooth, yet somehow still super unreliable, and both will have the same acceleration characteristics if you account the extra weight of the vw. You are probably right about the cylinder offset, Idk, I don't care enough to research it. The bulletin to fix the CR-V vibration issue is a computer retune which adds fuel at idle, that's also a fact. I hope all these people get used to the grating vibes because their car will probably last forever as the average amount of time a person will own a Honda they bought new is 13 years, that's also a fact. Sorry if you take offense to my post but I assure you I wasn't singling you out, that's why I always say plural "people". Enjoy your Honda everyone, bye,I love you.
@Sprinkles-BtE7 жыл бұрын
Honestly, I didn't take offense. It would take a lot for me to actually get offended. I'm just in the mood to respond. :) It's weird, you're so confident in your information but it only takes a quick google to find contrary. The TSB is 3 parts actually. A computer re-tune is only for issue #2. If you have issue #1 and #3 fixed, it involves swapping out the radiator and transmission mount as well as the rear hatchback latch and, headrest and some other small parts. I had all 3 done. The Tiguan is more expensive, base model against base model but they aren't *that* far apart when comparing the most purchased models of each. That would be the SE trim line for the Tiguan and the EX for the CRV. For me, my Tiguan 4-motion SE cost me 29k in 2010 and my 2015 CRV AWD EX cost me a little over 25k. The Honda does score better on reliability than the VW but if you're a consumer reports subscriber, they talk about it all the time for several years now about the slipping of Honda's reliability, especially across certain models, unfortunately the CRV being one of them (the accord still does extremely well). They simply are not as great as they used to be and the line between VW and Honda is lessening. I'm not trying to defend VW in anyway, I really am indifferent to them but want to point out that Honda isn't what the reputation the 90s built for them any longer. Still a step above VW regarding reliability but only by a little bit. Maintenance cost, I can only go by my experience and I've already told you that I paid nearly nothing for 76k miles on my Tiguan... I'm sure there were some looming costly repairs coming before I got rid of it, who knows. Again, not defending VW, more like expecting more from Honda. I don't know how long we'll keep the CRV. Maybe we'll eventually get another car and I'll use the CRV nearly exclusively as my work commuter and she can have the new car. She seems to like Kia line of SUVs and CR has really been giving them top marks! But that won't be for at least a couple more years she'll just have to live with it until then. It's becoming hot again and the AC is on almost full time again so it's already less of an issue as it smooths out the vibration quite a bit.

James Devasia You know, since I purchased this CRV, I went and tested 3 other CRVs at two different dealerships, two of them had less than 10 miles on them and guess what, they all did it. You might think that maybe they made a change as of recently. I checked the manufacture date on the driver side door jam of my CRV and it says 6/'15 - pretty recent. If yours *truly* does vibrate, than I would consider you lucky vs those that do have vibrating CRVs unlucky. It would seem the majority of them vibrate. Also, according to the massive CRV vibration thread on the CRV Owners Club, there are many who reported no vibration at first but eventually it started happening later in the cars life. www.crvownersclub.com/forums/14-problems-issues/63138-2015-honda-cr-v-vibration-idle.html Hopefully this won't happen to you.
