Just tuned my 2018 F-150 with this programmer yesterday on 93 octane. The tune that comes on this thing is insane! After I drove it making sure everything went well, I knew I had to take it to the track. In a crew cab configuration I whipped a stock 2017 R/T charger. That truck is wicked fast now! Also bumped my mpg up from 15 to 22 which is crazy to me. Highly recommend this device!

@@koltonj4069 one caveat on my 2018 if you turn the limit off it still cuts at 105. If you set it to 125 it cuts at 125. If you buy a better tune from someone like 5 star it may be different I cant say. The box tune from SCT still limits to 125. If you race a Mustang or a Hellcat you will want more top end.

I ordered this from American Trucks and i loaded the 91 tune and turned off the speed limiter but I just got home and my governor still tapping out at 105mph. So I’m guessing it didn’t work. I’m kinda disappointed right now.

You can configure it to permanently disable auto stop-start feature. Look at 4:30 in the video for the screen to change it.

I basically installed this on a new truck just to permanently delete the auto start stop, I wasnt going to do it yet, then i was doing some shopping on a hot day making short trips with ac on and kept forgetting to hit the disable button and the truck kept shutting off even though it was still hot as hell in the cab! The extra power is just a bonus.

I once did this, if you hold the button in it goes to the ACC position which is essentially the on but not ignition position.

That’s 385 crank, this is on a dyno so these are wheel numbers. Take your 385 crank and subtract about %20 for drivetrain loss and you have 308whp

I used this tuner on my 2013 before I traded it in and it worked awesome, now running it on my 2019, they say it has 'a' preloaded tune, but it has a preloaded tune for whatever vehicle you have, it just confirms your vin first. I am getting some custom tunes from 5 star for the new truck though since I've added a cold air intake and exhaust.

This is what is referred to as a 'canned' tune meaning the device comes preloaded with tunes written by SCT. Typically these will be very conservative (aka safe) and will deliver modest power gains with some smaller transmission tweaks as well. If you want to 'full experience' a tune will deliver I would suggest you look into one of our custom options here on the site. -Justin

The canned tune made a huge difference on my '13 5.0. I notice the difference on my '19 5.0 but I've also done a cold air intake and exhaust on top of the new truck already being faster stock than the old one. I'm going to try the 5 star 3 tune bundle just for fun. Sport mode is almost excessive but then I dont really see a huge difference in normal mode unless I really punch it then it drops into 2nd and you get a bit of wheel spin as it revs all the way up to over 6000! Fun and impressive but I'd like to be able to drive more conservatively and just use the accelerator when i want it instead of it staying in the high revs all the time in sport mode.

I work for a Ford dealer and have been with Ford back to 2004. Yes it can void your Ford warranty, just talk to your dealers service manager and be honest about the mod/programmer.. because they will know it was on there.. most are cool and wil try and help.

When you get in the car, don’t put ur foot on the brake when ur are pushing the button to start…just hop in and push the button once..it’s the same as having a let in the car and turning the key to get the dash lights and radios on but not starting it

@@aaronjones3982 I just like the performance benefits of running e85. Since e85 is higher octane the ECM is able to advance timing for better performance, significant or not I'll take what I can get. Gas mileage is not priority for me performance is everything.

5 star tuning has an e85 tune. You wouldn't be able to drive on anything else while you have that tune programmed though

Olly there’s a flex fuel tune you can get now, but personally I’m not going past the 5 star 91 performance tune on mine since I’m running snow tires now on my ‘19 and it just spins even with the snow tires unless I’m in 4x4. Seems like a waste of good tires or risk of breaking the transfer case or diff with the power it has now. Just a roush cai and flow master plus the 5 star tune is enough to make me do something I never thought I would do before, I’m scared to go full throttle especially in sport mode because it doesn’t just chirp the gears, but will just spin as if I’m actually in control of a high hp vehicle without electronic interference. If you want better mpg get a dedicated eco tune and don’t drive a truck maybe?

Does the generic tune (i.e., the one that is included) adjust all those driving modes, and do I retain all 5 driving modes? Or does the tune just apply to one mode? @@jpr2136 I retained all my drive modes on my 2019, and at highway speeds it will still even go up into 10th in sport mode if you're going fast enough but not on the throttle. Auto engine stop is also off for good now too. You might not notice a huge performance feel in normal mode unless you step on it a bit to make it drop enough gears, but in sport mode you might want to watch you mirrors for the cops.

@@jpr2136 you should see mine now with a roush cold air, cat back exhaust and custom 5 star performance tune, just on 87 octane I'm having trouble not breaking the tires loose through 1st and 2nd at more than half throttle. Well worth the price for the 5 Star 3 tune bundle. Got an 87 performance/tow, 87 performance, and 93 performance. I see no need to use the 93 unless you're actually racing.

There's a bit of misconception about this topic. To answer the question "can the dealer tell if my truck has been tuned?" it's a bit of a yes and no situation. They may not be able to tell that your truck has necessarily been tuned, or what tune you were running, but what they can absolutely tell is if your PCM has been re-flashed, which is exactly what tuning does. Most manufacturers have a re-flash counter in their PCM's. You tune the vehicle, that counter goes up by one. Re-flash back to stock, that counter goes up by one again. Someone brings truck their truck in for a drivability issue and that re-flash counter is showing a high level of re-flash counts, that's gonna raise some red flags. To the best of my knowledge, there's no way to re-set the re-flash counter. A lot of this would come down to the individual dealer, and what type of warranty issues you're in for. If it's anything check engine light or drivability related, they could potentially deny your claim if they have reason to believe the PCM was re-flashed for non tsb or performance reasons.

Just used this tuner on my '18 5.0 Lariat. Feels great, a LOT more grunt down low! BUT, now all the chime sounds are the cheap ones from the dash, rather than the audio system (as it was stock). Any advice on how to undo this change?

@@nickhawes2523 We added bigger wheels and tires and a cold air intake at nearly the exact same time as adding the tune, so unfortunately, I can't really say what the impact was. My MPGs are definitely worse, but most likely that's entirely due to the big tires.
