Thank you for this video….worked perfectly. I have a clicking noise after installation though…any thoughts what this might be? Could this be a calibration issue?
@silverstonespov5291
@silverstonespov5291 19 күн бұрын
@@larrylara7968 if everything line up perfectly when you install, especially the little piece that connect the actuator to the blend door then it could be bad actuator. Or you can try to disconnect battery to calibrate it. I’m install a lot of actuator but never have to calibrate them just note the position the one came out and the new one going in

Wow! Very impressive great video/work! My 2016 F-150 limited passenger side is stuck on high heat only and cannot adjust temp. Driver side works fine for heat/ac. Do you think this will work for me? Do you have a link to the part?
@silverstonespov5291
@silverstonespov5291 2 ай бұрын
Sorry I don’t have the link, just tell the part person is the temp blend door actuator. Look like left or right side are the same part #, confirm with them. Thanks , good luck

Great video. So timely for me to see this. My driver side heat was lost today in my 2017 F150 Lariat, passenger side works fine. If my driver's side blend door actuator has failed it is the one you pointed to in the video, the lower one that is visible without taking anything off the dash. To change the driver's side actuator it is cake? Easy to access without taking anything apart? Hoping this is true. Thanks for the future reply.

On another note, maybe you can give some insights into preparing for proper alignment when taking part out and then back in again. From reading several blogs on changing this or similar parts, you may need to place the actuator in a certain position using the control dial with the power on and then remove the fuse to fix it in a certain position before taking out the old one. I am still in the process of reading more blogs to better understand the issues that can arise. From what I understand you can run into a situation where when trying to insert the gear back in the two gears may not mesh properly. And because no matter how you cut it while changing this part you will be twisted like a pretzel, so best to plan ahead. Being in a pretzek for too long is not good for your posture. This is where this "resetting" step comes in. If you are going to do this yourself I highly recommend reading through the above cited blog from start to finish, and then some, to be in a better position to tackle this task. From what I am reading the dealership will charge you at least 8 hours to do this. My dealership charges $140/hour. Although you can save big money doing this yourself (a few hours of work) be prepared so you don't get sent to the nut house after your done. This reset thing can be a huge issue for us non-expert mechanics. I can't remember trying to tackle a project on my vehicles over the years and hitting the proverbial brick wall and giving up. I have a 100% success rate. However, from what I am reading, this part can be insanely difficult to change out if you are not privy to these finer issues, like the 'reset" issue. Read up and stay sane:)

@@joedanow3106 You have your points and it’s true. For a proper procedure if someone doesn’t have much knowledge and experience should understand better before doing the work. I’m a license technician just 15 year of experience and I replace many of actuators over the year and I haven’t need to do any reset because I understand how actuators work, This job take about 8 hours to do it because have to remove the dash on the older year and on the RAM, and I have done that in the past. On this Gen F150 it’s easier so I don’t have to remove the dashboard. All the actuators I replace in the past have no come back. Thanks a lot for watching and comments !

Thank you so much for offering your free time to helping out the DIY audience in KZbin land. Can you describe a situation where you ran into the gears not meshing and you have to do some small procedure (like setting the controls to a certain mode level before doing the work) before removing the actuator? What I saw on one video the tech set the heater to a medium setting and then removed the fuse to that circuit. Also, if you can talk about the thickness issues with regard to trying to install a non OEM part, like one made by Dorman. The video I watched the tech changed out the actuator that is right against the floor (left side blend door actuator). He avoided having to rip apart the entire dashboard by removing the center console. It appears that taking apart the dash is a lot more work than taking out the center console. In any event, I believe it was for an F150 before 2015 and the lower blend door actuator was in a spot that was touch to get to. When he was ready to replace the actuator with a Dorman knock-off actuator (non OEM) the Dorman part was just an extra 1/4 inch thicker (black gear case) than the Motor Craft one (OEM part) and that was the difference of heaven and hell in replacing it. He had to go back to the store and get the Motor Craft one so it would be able to slide under the pried up console bottom. Watching that video made me afraid of getting into something that might be over my head. I realize that video was for the procedure for removing the lower blend door actuator in a pre- 2015 F150. From what you are saying above is that when you replace the drivers side blend door actuator in an F150 for the years 2015-2020 you do not have to take out the center console? You show it in your video after taking off some side trim of the center console. That one, the one that you did not remove, you are saying is quite easy to change? Have you changed it? Can you describe the procedure? Again, it is completely accessible after taking off one plastic tray liner (not sure if that is what you call the segmented part that needs removing down low on the console passenger side which will then expose the actuator) along side the passenger side of the center console? Sorry for the bother. Knowing this is so important in moving forward. Online I do not see a video of changing out the drivers side blend door actuator for F150 years 2015-2020 so your help will be tremendous. Thanks again @@silverstonespov5291

Sorry for late reply, Look like you have a mode door actuator not work properly. It’s should be at the left side of heater box, look under by the steering column to the right, may have to remove some cover out
