Do NOT fully tighten any of the Sub-Frame bolts until the Mustang is back on the ground. (Or under load from a separate jack on the spindle to simulate a load.) If you torque these sub-frame bolts down with the suspension hanging will destroy those brand new spherical bushings a very short time.
@MustangGuru10 ай бұрын
Actually with spherical bearings you don’t have to apply load before tightening the bolts. They have a full range on motion where the factory rubber bushing does not.

He said the torque spec was for the suspension being unloaded.

I tried following these instructions but had to run to the store for a $20 ball joint separator. It's a southern car too, so nothing was stuck rusted, they just don't pop out with a couple hammer taps and a yank.

If this guy beat up my S550 Knuckles with his steel hammer like he did here, I would be asking for a new pair of them. What's wrong with using a copper mallet or a ball joint splitter??

I saw this. It's making me not want to do this job today... then again, what's to stop the probably underpaid mechanic down at the shop from doing the same to my vehicle.
@MarclenChin2 жыл бұрын
You can rent a ball joint puller from autozone that gets the job done without striking anything with a hammer. I feel the same way lol

I'm sitting here wondering why he didn't just tap the end of the ball joint. You can see the finish is completely gone and will start to rust if he's in the northeast

Also don’t forget to get an alignment after 😂
@whpony963 жыл бұрын
No need to, there are no adjustable points altered to the front alignment in this install. Did this 2 years ago to my 2015 GT. I will say I only paid $185 shipped for these 2 years ago, man has the price jumped up!

@@whpony96 wait what no adjustments up front 😂 I get new control arms & my alignment was way off 😂
@whpony963 жыл бұрын
@@WarriorOfEden3033 If you only swap out the control arms in the front there are no adjustments at any of the points at all. There is simply nothing to adjust... Now if you loosened or unbolted anything else then yes you will have to have a alignment.
@Dr-YouTube2 жыл бұрын
@@whpony96 Your logic is flawed. Just because there's no adjustment point on the arms doesn't mean they arent slightly longer or shorter than the factory peices which most definitely will through off alignment.

@@Dr-KZbin I was a Quality Control Inspector for Ford parts for 10+ years. The parts are designed on a assembly line of presses and stamps. The parts are tested on a approval jig to conform to near exact specifications. The tolerances are so tight to ensure that the parts are as close to identical as possible. Any variance is so negligible that even a Computerized Alignment System will still show it is in correct alignment. Ford will not waste time spending hours aligning cars as they reach the end of the assembly line. You would not believe the cost per hour that Ford charges a company that supplies a bad part (or lack of parts) that stops the production line.

I have a question and I hope you can answer, I have a 2016 GT Convertible and when I step on the brakes it makes a clunking sound like the whole front end is going to drop out, its only when brakes are pressed at low speed, sitting at a traffic light or in traffic and the car starts to roll and you step on the brakes, my goodness, the clunk is horrible, any advise would be great. I was told it could be the control arm bushing, I was just hoping you have had (or know someone) that had this issue. Thank you for your time.

I have same car and same problem. I replaced the lower (lateral) control arm with the ball joint but the problem is still there. I will have the upper (tension) control arm checked soon as I think It's the problem. I've read about another guy with this problem and he fixed it replacing the upper arms. good luck with it

I have a 2016 ecoboost that does the same when I brake, I went to check it out and they advised changing the lower control arm and the steering tie rod, I also noticed a KZbin video that had the same problem and changed the steering tie rod (front and end). @@troyvan6952 Did you ended up fixing the issue? I have a clunk noise when pressing the brakes as well. I have these performance control arms installed but the actual noise didnt start after I replaced the brakes and I tighten these again. The actual control arms dont look bad as the rubber bushings look okay.

Will a front passenger lower control arm from a PP1 be the same as the one on a PP2?
@errrky Жыл бұрын
Yes, should be. Both those parts should be identical, as many of the PP1 upgrades are carried over into the PP2. I have a PP2.
