Great video, mine broke down in my driveway. It was a wet day in LA, first big snow storm since 1885. I took your tip about removing the starter relay and jumping the 2 larger terminals with a heavy gauge wire with 2 spade connectors, no start. Now I don't feel so bad about jacking up the truck, putting an old carpet down and crawling under the truck. Sure enough I had a light on the trigger terminal, when the key was turned to start. Looking further the exposed copper wire on the starter was corroded in the middle and melted in half. It's nice when you have a plan of attack, and being able to move forward, I will be getting a ford starter and not not having to pay for a tow to the dealers and pay the dealers. (is a BIG PLUS$$$$$$$$) THANKS FOR YOUR VIDEO!

You sir just saved us from a $580 tow bill from the middle of Georgia. The story - was doing this thing, put in a new battery, thought it was fixed until 2 days later it did it again while on the job site, had it towed back to office, still didn't start, so I went home. started getting calls this morning from the guy that jumped in it at 05:00 (didn't know it had arrived on a roll-off the evening before) to drive down to south Georgi. it started for him like all was well, and he made it about half-way and stopped for a biscuit & fuel. Thanks to your video I was able to talk him through what to do. Thank you again for posting the actual answer. Having same issues, new battery , new stater had the new starter tested and it showed good ,replaced pcm relay checked starter relay fuse still no start no crank, and dash is going crazy just like yours was!

Our 2023 F150 SXT stopped in traffic and would not restart. Dealer ordered a brake booster and battery core from the factory. Our symptoms were very similar to yours. I'm surprised they didn't check the PCM or relay first. New truck only had it a week.

Hello my truck is doing this and i checked everything in this video and eve the battery and the starter. Could it be the alternator or what else could be causing this?

@michetedder7807 Yes I did, it turned out to be the 2015 automatic version of a neutral safety switch inside the transmission, which sadly has to be programmed into the truck when changed so I had to get a dealership to change it.

@michetedder7807 Also if you want to check to make sure this is the problem try to jump your starter relay with a piece of wire or a relay jumper when the truck won't run it fixes the problem too it's just annoying to get out of the truck and keep jumping that over and over. If you do it with a wire make sure it's coated/insulated wire and just touch the ends to where the relay hooks up whilst holding the insulated part so you don't shock yourself.

Hi, my remote start would turn the engine on but my key does nothing, what could be the issue? When I turn the key, everything lights up fine. But I get no crank. 2018 f150 xlt.

Could be multiple things. Could be a bad transponder chip in the key. Could be a bad ignition switch.

Im having no start issue. After truck sat for 8 months after collision repairs. I had no start issue swapped out starter for new one. Cut off oxidizing ends that went to starter put new ends on. Tested battery many times 12+ volts and good crank amperage. Truck can take 5-150 turns of the key to turn over. Like it has a mine of its own. 2016 f150 v8. Just here a click and dash all gets cummunication

Ugh, starter tested ok, relays were good. I'm getting the same dash lights: Hill start assist, advanced track, and the wrench. batter tested ok. replacing the PCM relay did nothing. I REALLY dont want to have to replace a PCM.

Relay switch... Just swap them out and same relay, easy way to check had 04 and 07 that did the same thing.

Thinking this is my problem as well. No crank no start, replace starter relay...thought it was fixed, because it started for a while? Then issue returned. Would it sporadically start if this relay was bad? or going bad? Do these relays stick and then release? Sorry for all the questions...just hoping I got the problem.

The relays can intermittently fail yes. But it could also be something else. There's also a solenoid on the starter that could be going bad

Same I replaced alternator worked for about a week moved the relay around and it started up not sure if this is a permanent fix might need to but new relays

Did you check the starter relay? Are you sure the new starter is good?

Yup, put a brand new one on there and it has a strong crank when you go through the fuse box. Going to replace the key and check antitheft next.

Sounds like a PCM issue. You sure you have power to your computer? Is the dash going crazy at all?

Swapping relays can cause problems if not identical meanings did the pcm relay have a resistor across the coil if you looked at the relay diagram on it’s case switching a relay that doesn’t have a resistor will smoke the pcm eventually ALLWAYS LOOK it’s called surge protection CHEERS some manufacturers use a diode in the fuse compartment labeled start
