My fault, I should have been more clear. For many years hood struts required drilling holes in the hood, these do not.

My passenger side strut bracket that goes onto the car body broke off, because the hole enlargened with time (2016 Mustang GT). How will I reinstall the bracket with a larger hole size?

You don't have to remove the prop rod.

Most cars never had prop rods. They have been doing just fine. Buy new struts when they stop working.About every 5-7 yrs.

@@1stfirsttexan What are you talking about? Most new vehicles have a prop rod, If they don't have gas struts. Older cars had spring tensioners, the Asian imports is where you first see the ubiquitous prop rod first show up here in the states.
