These Steeda S550 Mustang IRS Subframe Bushing Support System for your 2015 Mustang GT, EcoBoost, and V6 gives the rear end a much more solid feel with no increase in NVH at all. The Steeda IRS Sub frame bushings eliminate rear sub frame movement notorious in the 2015 Mustang GT, EcoBoost, and V6. A stiffened subframe allows the car to increase traction to the rear wheels and helps eliminate wheel hop. This product is patent pending.
With the release of the new S550 Mustang, Steeda knew that addressing the IRS system would be a top priority. Being the first production Mustang with an IRS since the 03/04 Cobra's, we knew there would be a great opportunity to capitalize on Ford's new piece by giving it the Steeda advantage. As with any suspension system, deflection is an issue if it's present. Anytime a piece is moving, twisting or vibrating when it should be stationary is a major problem. One of the areas team Steeda wanted to focus on was the rear IRS subframe.
As you have seen with our IRS Subframe Bushing Support System, it limits the movement of the subframe by filling in the voids of the OE bushings. With Steeda's IRS Subframe Support Braces, we have taken the S550 rear suspension to another level!
Our Steeda S550 Mustang Rear IRS Subframe Braces for 2015-2017 Mustang GT, GT350, EcoBoost, and V6 (non-convertible) is built in-house from 4130 chrome moly steel and powdercoated silver metal flake, this part isn't only strong - it also looks great under your new Mustang! What we did was tie together 3 very important points on the S550 chassis. We utilized existing threaded holes in the rocker panel (the strongest part of the body) and connected that to the front mounting location of the IRS subframe and the rear mount of the lower control arm and toe link. Connecting these 3 points together not only adds rigidity that was lacking in the rear, but also more control of the whole car.
Also, unlike competitors kits that only replace the factory bracket, our Steeda kit supports that bracket while connecting to 2 additional locations, therefore providing twice the support! The best part about this kit is it uses all existing holes in the chassis so the car doesn''t have to be modified in any way and adds no NVH whatsoever.
-Better handling for more stable cornering
-Limits IRS sub frame movement
-No permanent modifications necessary
-No added NVH
-50% more connecting points
-Reduces wheel hop
-Lifetime warranty
-Installation does not require removal of cradle

From doing lots of research this looks like a good first step in getting rid of wheel hop. On a mostly stock car you can get rid of most street wheel hop with subframe brushings and vertical links. However if you are launching on a prepped surface like a drag strip, you will need everything you can throw at the rear. My PP mustang for example has no noticeable hop on the street because it spins without resistance but at the strip it feels like your about to lose the rear end.

I put a BMR cradle lockout kit on the car and it still has wheel hop on the track, the same thing would happen if it was this bushing support system instead. I have vertical links and diff bushings on the way. I will try to remember to update this post with my track results in about a month

We typically recommend the vertical links a bit later down the road. You're going to see a greater decrease in wheel hop if you pick up any of the 3 parts in our Starter Stop the Hop Kit. We have a semi-recent video on our channel explaining all of our IRS components too!

Which suspension pieces would be best to swap out when upgrading from the Performance Package? As I understand it the Vertical links are different than base models.

I wonder how much the play in the differential contributes to these sort of issues as the differential mount bolts seem to move even more than the subframe BEFORE AND AFTER the install.

I noticed that too. Appears a good amount of energy is being stolen by those soft bushes, however, if it's a daily car, I'd say it's fine. A pure track car, then ja, get to the razer edge where possible.

I notice that the bolt was also moving at the subframe to body. not just the flex of the bushing. Why is that? My bad. Watched again, that bolt I saw moving was for the sway bar mount. 🤪

Hello steeda. I just ordered a pair of the vertical links for my 2015 gt. Looking to install it within the next couple of days. Is there anything I should know after I've done the mod or is it just a direct bolt on and that's it that's all. Hoping to hear from you soon :)

Is there a similar video for a Mach 1?
@steedaautosports
@steedaautosports Жыл бұрын
We don’t have a similar video for the Mach 1, but the concept is the same. In our testing, the Mach 1 may be a bit better than a 2015 GT shown here, but the same inherent issue with wheel hop on an IRS is still present. Hope this helps! -Chris

Hello, I am considering buying the Steeda S550 Mustang 'Stop the Hop' Starter Kit for my Mustang GT Convertible 2016. But I have read that the Subframe Support Braces does not fit the convertible model. I was wondering if that is the case, I can only use the bushing support and Alignment Kit, would that be potent enough to eliminate wheel hop? Should I add Vertical Links too? Thank you
@steedaautosports
@steedaautosports 6 жыл бұрын
Hi Wuyang, you are correct, they will not fit the convertible. To get the most reduction in wheel hop, we'd suggest adding the vertical links and toe links to supplement the bushing support and alignment kit. If you have any other questions just let us know!

Hello Steeda Autosports, I'm interested to buy this product but I have a question. I will install it to my 2015 EcoBoost and have one big question that stops me from buying. As I know bushing helps to avoid a vibration and movements between two moving parts of vehicle that helps keeping two metal parts solid and avoid all damages that vibrations or movements may cause. As I can understand your kit is blocking movements of a rubber part of a bushing that doing connection between a car body and a rear suspension solid so all movements and the vibration going through the rear suspension to the bushing and straight to a point where rear suspension connecting to the body and I think it can cause damages to the car body (I used to have BMW E46 and almost every second car has the problem with a connection a rear subframe with the car body, the vibration and movements of the subframe damage so hard that the car body that led to big crack an the body and you have to weld it). SO my questions are - What is your kit doing with the bushings? Did you check the connection between the body and subframe? Do I need to buy this kit if I will not to use the car for drag or race? Hope you will answer me. Have a great day.

Ilja Lopatik The kit is eliminating subframe movement, thus eliminating wheel hop and increasing traction to the rear wheels. The subframe mount points are solid from the factory. If you lower the subframe, you will see that the top of the rubber bushing is steel, so the spots on the body where the subframe mounts, is already made to support a solid mounting surface. It should not affect the body negatively. If you notice your rear end having a sloppy feel with drastic wheel hop, then we would highly recommend this product.
@loc5532
@loc5532 9 жыл бұрын
steedaautosports I understand that the point of connection bushing and a body is solid. But - the bushing has two metal surface (inner and outer) and a rubber between, so from the factory the subframe movements (inner metal bushing ring) going through the rubber which are damping the vibrations and movements and the inner metal ring has just mounting sense for a bushing and almost has no causes to car body. Your kit is blocking rubber damping by connecting inner and outer metal parts between each others. So we have next - inner ring, rubber, outer ring becoming one solid piece and vibration is not damping with the rubber piece. So all subframe movements going directly through your kit to car body. Am I right?
@steedaautosports
@steedaautosports 9 жыл бұрын
Ilja Lopatik Not ALL of the subframe movement will go directly through our kit, except under acceleration, cornering or braking. Under normal driving, the regular bushings are still doing their job in the subframe, reducing the vibrations at crusing speeds.

steedaautosports Ok. I think I need to lift a car and learn a tech construction of a rear subframe and all mounted components first. Maybe it's a good point but right now I'm very sceptic about pros against cons using this kit. But today I felt the wheel hop and it's a big problem even with the ecoboost cars. Does this kit returnable?

you know what? Mark my words. I think the slop/soft/shake is really caused by the two rubber driveshaft couplers, front and rear driveshaft. Had this car since 2010 and have done all "fixes", and the rubber feeling is still there.. just less. How does a driveshaft torque not deflect rubber couplers anyway and why doesnt anybody swap them out???? So they say.

The better question is how you got your hands on a car that came out in 2015 back in 2010? One that has an independent rear as opposed to live axle that you had in the 05/15 cars.
