I watched this video not too long after it was released back in 2015. I'm 20 now and considering the possibility of a through hike of my own. I spent about half an hour trying to hunt this video down, and hot dog I finally found it!! All the feels 🥲

That’s so awesome that you thought of this video after all that time. If it means anything, 8 years later I still think of my thru hike almost on a daily basis.

What type of backpack did you use? Any positives or drawbacks to any of the equipment you used? Tent, stove, backpack, shoes, etc.
@drewb98 жыл бұрын
Hey Kevin! I used an Osprey Atmos 65 AG. The backpack is amazing and I would recommend Osprey to everyone. Drawbacks to my Salomon shoes were that I had heel slip which caused some chafing but eventually calloused. I used a JetBoil but now have an MSR Bottle Rocket. My tent initially was the Big Agnes Fly Creek UL2, but I switched to the Copper Spur UL2 because the Fly Creek wasn't fully freestanding and had way less space for only ounces difference.

How did you finish on October 31st if Baxter State Park closes on the 15th of Oct.?
@drewb99 жыл бұрын
+Gabe C. C It doesn't close on the 15th. They close it overnight camping around the 15th. This year it was the 22nd I believe. They do eventually close the park to cars on November 1st which means to summit Katahdin you have to hike a near 30 mile round trip in a day which is very unrealistic.

+Drew Bartlett Thanks for the clarification! I'm planning on going Northbound after I get my bachelor's, which would be after the first week of May. Glad to know I have a little more time than I was planning on.

Great video. I'm looking forward to my thru hike. I also love the Bubba Gump hat. I was going to wear mine a well. What is your trail name?
@drewb98 жыл бұрын
+doobob95z Thanks! My trail name is Forrest Gump!
@doobob95z8 жыл бұрын
+Drew Bartlett that it cool. I can't wait to get my trail name. I've been planning on doing a they hike for about 3 years now. I have 6 kids and I'm a scout leader, so it's hard to do something of this magnitude, but it is finally coming together. Maybe we'll meet on the trail some day. Happy Trails brother.
